Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Gaucho pants -- thank you! I couldn't remember the actual name. Frye and Dingo boots -- I think I had the Dingo's and I wore them with a denim gaucho/vest combo. What days. My fave perfume of the day was Charlie. Remember that one? And Shelly Hack was the "Charlie Girl" in all the commercials.
And yes, there are only four sororities left on the ETSU campus.

A lot less fraternities, too. My freshman year, there were about 17 fraternities; now there are eight. My husband was Sig Ep there and has stayed pretty involved as an alum. The last meeting he attended (last month, actually) word was the overall fraternity system there is getting stronger -- "coming back" was the way my husband put it.
Of course, AOII folded my freshman year. AZD folded a year later, though they did recolonize in the early 90's. From what I know, they are doing good. Delta Zeta left, though I am not sure when.
And...my beloved Phi Mu is no longer there!! Such a heartbreak. We were one of the larger sororities and had been a good, solid presence on campus for decades. They left in the mid-90's and it was interesting. Apparently, the whole Greek system was changing at ETSU and had really taken a hit number-wise. Membership was down across the board, from what I heard. That wasn't why Phi Mu left, though. The majority of the sisters were very concerned about the direction things were going and felt like the culture of the sorority was changing for the worse. They approached National and asked to be closed. National agreed. The plan was to close for five years, give some problematic people time to graduate and move on, then recolonize.
There has been no move to recolonize...until now. It's actually some of us from my era who have decided to pursue it. We just made the decision last week via a private meeting on good 'ol Facebook! Wish us luck -- we would love to see Phi Mu back at ETSU.
Well, I am visiting out-of-town family and am now off to overeat...Happy Thanksgiving
