Yeah. They're just cargo shorts without the cargos. And generally speaking, they don't have tears in them, nor do they go past the knee.
or hell, you could wear these.

Yes, the other side are green and red (i think) respectively.
This screams Easter Egg/Trying Too Hard.
But think that, but a solid khaki/navy color....and preferably about an inch to two inches above the knee.

To clarify, "those" as in four panel shorts, or non cargo shorts?

Non-cargo shorts. Basing it on my college experience plus brothers in college and high school.
It could change, hasn't happened yet though.
The four panel color thing, looks like my dad's swim trunks honestly.

Lawdy thank you. Ed Hardy/Affliction/Tap Out is a deal breaker for me, which has nothing to do with Greek/not (my SO is independent...vehemently). Honestly, I don't give a shit about shorts...but the Ed Hardy graphic Ts? I love Jersey Shore and all, but for its stupidity. Dressing like that in real life=fail. HUGE fail.

Khaki, navy, red...seersucker...little lobsters...though nothing this, er, dramatic. (Phew). And I swear the shorts are going even shorter. Maybe I only see really long-legged guys around?

What about madras?
And yes, shorts have been getting an inch or two shorter lately.

I honestly can't believe that NO ONE under 30 wears non-cargo shorts . Do people still wear carpenter jeans in your neck of the woods?

Ugh, I was hoping you meant paneled shorts - lol. I think cargo shorts make you look like a lumpy pear. I only have one pair that I use for hiking (where they actually serve a utilitarian purpose - who needs all that storage on a regular day?!?). Outside of the woods its strictly non cargo and above the knee!

Ah, the early 80s and preppy. I can remember going to tacky-outfit parties wearing a madras shirt, madras tie, madras slacks, madras belt and madras blazer. No socks with my topsiders, of course. Yes, I owned all of those articles of clothing, plus madras short-sleeved shirts and madras shorts.
I'll admit it -- I find cargo shorts more comfortable than regular khaki shorts. Granted, part of that is because they're great for hiking, camping or working (like yard or around-the-house work). But part of it is they're just more comfortable to me.

Allow me to clarify since I'm confused about the term four panel, no one wears that style of shorts no matter the colors involved.
No, I don't know any younger guys who wear shorts above the knee, not counting uniform shorts at the Catholic school. Cargo or long shorts are all I see. I actually adjusted the age down to consider that I don't see as many 30-40 year old guys who aren't parole agents these days. (My dad wears shorts that length, he's older.)
Now, does that really mean 'no one' does? *shrug* But I don't see a lot of guys' knees. Maybe all the above-the-knee shorts guys hang out somewhere else.

So you're Alumiyum or you're just attention starved? Either way, if it weren't so easy I wouldn't bother.

Hey, I don't get it either, just reporting on what I see

You know what's fun? Coming into GC and seeing a thread with a really ambiguous title, clicking on it, and seeing a picture like the one posted by EW. Awesome.
