I LOVE that. Hahahahhaa.

It's been an ongoing battle for years to get people to use the right terms, but I think the powers that be have finally decided to quit sweating the small stuff. Volunteers are expected to use correct terminology, but we aren't to get in a hissy if it's not used.
My chapter has in general been pretty good about using the correct terms, but hearing "big/little" drove me crazy as an active.

I still call my sis-daughters (the ones that are still members) daughter and they call me mom...but I wouldn't say it's obsessive. Most "families" in the chapter make a pretty big deal of joining the family...I have two great-granddaughters (possibly a great-great, but I haven't heard yet) and two granddaughters and we take family pictures at events.

I know I saw "pledge mom" and "pledge daughter" in our magazines way back in the day at I think one of our chapters. I'm not sure though if that was actual bigs and littles or if it was the temporary sponsor you got on bid day.

Yep, instead of big sisters/key sisters/diamond sisters/whatever variation, you have a sister-mother and a sister-daughter. I have never heard of pledge-mom/sister used in an Alpha Gam context.

Pledge Mom or Pledge Mother was very much in use on my campus until our whole venacular changed - but I've never heard of the term "Pledge Daughter".

When I pledged, we occasionally referred to our New Member Educator as the "Pledge Mom", but that particular usage seems to have stopped between my freshman and my senior year.

We definitely did (and still do!) use the terms Big and Little Sis, along with "G-big" (grandbig), "G-Little", "G-G-Little", and the like. Since our chapter is still relatively new (<20 years old), we all put a lot of emphasis on family linneage going back to our charter members and most of the new members get adorably decorated family trees as part of their initiation gifts.

(Not exactly recruitment, but hilarious): So many crazy bitches wearing sorority recruitment tshirts on campus. Vom.

Sorority rush just ended. Home-run derby just began. TFM.

Yep, endless amusement.

Side comment: I was always a little jealous of the chapters that can do the whole "baby" thing. What would Alpha Chi's be? Baby Lyres? That sound ridiculous.

Also, it is so heartwarming to read the updates by new members who are so excited to have received bids to KD. And also the updates by current members who are so excited about recruitment and their sorority/chapter.

But what's up with the guys listing the greek alphabet as their status updates? Odd.

Venturing out of my lane, but I couldn't resist the smugness with this one:

"I Am Going To Be A Delta Sigma Theta & No One Can Stop Me"

No one? Really? Not even the members of the organization?

/mad dash back to my own lane with apologies

OK, so I just did a search and this was the first post that came up: not exactly what I was expecting, I must say.

"public speaking teacher told us today that last year tailgating he got drunk and got in a biking accident, had a sorority rush to his aid, and ended up with a free vodka on the rocks from the ladies... This guy knows how to get shit done"

I think I'll let everyone else do the searching.
