totally disgusted!!!
my girlfriend just sent me pictures of what i believe to be those students from auburn. they were in black face, some had black wigs on. they had omega t-shirts on and they were doing different hand signs(i.e. the infamous tupac 'westside' sign). and you think we as a people have made progress.

Yep. I put that down to a lot of people who aren't comfortable even thinking about race and don't want our issues shoved in their faces.
Oh well.

yeah, I noticed that mess too. Race is unimportant. Because OF COURSE whites no longer benefit from racism.

I get your sarcasm, Soror.
DISCLAIMER: The following is just ST's opinion.
I think that many white folks equate "racism" with David DuKKKe, the Klan, skinheads, isht like that. That's why they freak out when something like the Auburn and UW-Whitewater incidents come into the open.
Well, guess what? You don't have to be overtly bigoted to benefit from institutionalized racism.

Soror, I agree with you. Of course, the average, everyday white person can't harbor any racists views/feelings because afterall, they have two black friends! Oh, yeah, an Asian friend, too!

LMAO!
Soror, how about when you find out that YOU are one of those two, and when questioned on it, they say "Well you're different...."
I'm always like, "Oh so I get to be different from those OTHER niggers. Thanks" Conversation, and sometimes friendship, ended.

Lawd, I've gotten that "well, you're different" so much in my lifetime because I went to a PWI and a fairly integrated high school.
I just wished I had the kichas to respond as Soror lovelyivy84 did to people.

I'm a pretty blunt person in real life - not insensitive, I just say what I mean when I am with my friends. That was in hs though (mine was practically all white), as I got older I knew how to spot when I'm the novelty friend, lol.

I hope that all of us can spot the "novelty friend" thing as we get older.
That's why it's so crucial for parents to teach their children about racism and racial issues, particularly upper-middle-class and upper-class ones whose children may not be growing up in a neighborhood like Baldwin Hills or Ladera Heights in Los Angeles or some of the more affluent black areas in Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, D.C., et al.

It comes in threes
Well, Sorors, fellow NPHC Greeks and sisterfriends, yet another racially insensitive incident has emerged at the University of Mississippi.
Try this link: http:// http://www.thedmonline.com/vnews/dis...3bea3e6dcf440.
This article has a picture, featuring another a-hole in blackface.

I feel you Soror ST.
I have four little cousins growing up in an almost all white suburb and my heart hurts for them. The other day I took my little cousin to the bus stop when I was visiting them. THe other little white boys completely ignored him. (I remember when that was me too).
THey had an incident where one of the little boys told him that he was dirty because he was black. THe REAL kicker about that one though, the little boy who said it was with two other boys, one of whom was black (they told him he was different ). My cous's mom called the principal and parents with the QUICKNESS. She said that they were all very, very angry about it, ESPECIALLY the mother of the little black boy.
My cousin and her husband both grew up in schools that were mostly black, and they are sort of at a loss as to how to deal with this situation. I fee like in our family I am really the only one here who can relate to what my lil cous is going through and there isn't really a way that I can make it better for him. All we can do is love him, teach him to love himself and hope that he makes his own way...

Be there for him
Amen Soror lovelyivy84. I hope your little cousin, when he gets older, will realize and appreciate what you've done for him.

Well his parents are great. They reallly want my input on the matter. Man those are like my kids now too! (All the kids I need too, cause at the end of the day I get to send em to they mama lol)
But when they told me what happened, I had to laugh sorta. I mean, we all know who was wrong in the situation, but who ends up looking the dumbest? I mean, what was that other little black boy thinking??? His mom was sooo mad. The things that we do to our own, man!
