I almost did flesh that out a little more (no pun intended). I don't think it's really "typical parent attitude of 'Male fantasy WHOOO but NOT MY DAUGHTER NUH UH'". I think it's more "I know how 18-22 year-old guys think, and what they think with half-the time. More maturity and having kids of my own has given me a different perspective on it all."

Holy stick legs. I thought mine were scrawny. Then again, mine are more "chicken legs" than sticks. Love the outfit and especially the boots, though. Carry on.

Sure, but I was thinking more juvenile in terms of how she's dressed.

Meh, anyway, it's like... Delia's VS. Banana Republic in terms of style, I guess. One is marketed toward teens/young adults (btw I HATE Delia's), one is marketed towards adult women/men. I'm losing myself in this comparison. Must now stop.

It's alright I tried to get that across from the branding post I made. Also that was the only post I could find that wasn't a modeling agency or porn. So... you get what you get.

I'll be on my porch in a rocking chair with a shot gun telling kids to get the hell off my lawn.

I mean, we are talking about a lingerie store. The entire brand is about looking sexy in minimal clothing. Next we will hear about a Hooters theme, or the rush chairs can display their skills on the stripper pole. I bet the PNMs will love it.

I hope there's a seat left on that porch for me!

I think the point is, there are how many other REALLY SUPER DUPER OMG THAT'S SO FREAKIN' ADORABLE themes out there, that Victoria's Secret shouldn't be included in that list.

To be honest, I CAN'T STAND the idea of themes, anyway. I used to hate doing them for recruitment parties, and I'm so glad that when I joined my chapter, the few COB events that I went to didn't have themes.

And if Panhellenic as a whole had a Victoria's Secret theme when I was a freshman, I would have went running in the other direction.

I don't know what the campus culture is like there, but depending on where you are, I think you could be "turning away" a lot of really great girls who are already a little freaked out by sorority recruitment to begin with.. and now probably assume that you're doing it in your underwear.

Pillow fight, anyone?

Okay, okay. I have read through your posts and I must say I was surprised with some of the views.

First, thanks to those who actually posted ideas for decorations. That is a big help. I'll post photos of the lodge when it gets decorated.

Secondly, when I say "theme" I actually mean a general slogan. The theme is used in the recruitment t-shirt design and how the panhellenic lodge is decorated. We are focusing on the colors of the sororities more than anything. Below is the design of the t-shirt.

Our university is very conservative and located on the Bible belt. Nothing sexy or suggestive will be used for the theme. So no, there will not be underwear hanging from the ceiling or photos of models in lingerie. Yea, a banner that says “Dress as Trashy as Possible, Party Every Night, Blow Off College” will be displayed. Not really. There are risks with every theme. A sports theme can appear too butch, a Tiffany’s theme too girly, or the puzzle piece and road sign themes can seem stale and cheesy. The key to using this theme is to do it in a tasteful manner, focusing on the décor and style not the lingerie.

The theme is based on the VS Pink brand. The stripes, the dog, the crest and the decor of the VS store are used for inspiration. Like it was pointed out before, many other sororities have used the Victoria's Secret theme for their Bid Day.

As for using too much pink, blue will be used instead since it is one of our university colors.

I highly doubt that PNMs will notice that the theme is based on VS. If they relate the use of stripes, dogs, and collegiate decor to lingerie and being too sexy then they have looked too much into the theme. VS Pink theme is about being yourself, confident, and having fun. Is that not encouraged in a sorority?

Really? You've taken half of the two-word brand name "X's Secret", used the "Go (color)" slogan, used the heart, the dog, the stripes, and the Angles' wings, and you don't think that people will notice it's all based on VS?

It's kinda catchy and I get what they are trying to do.

The PINK Collegiate Collection has new styles for the fall and these styles aren't intended to be sexy. They are collegiate and kind of athletic. Arguably, if a school doesn't mind being represented under "Victoria Secret's PINK loves (insert school)" then there may not be too much offense to it depending on who you ask.

HOWEVER...I have to say the words on the pillows and comforter here made me cringe and this gets back to how it undeniably is Victoria's Secret (and cheesy). I know this bed set has nothing to do with the recruitment theme discussed in this thread but it goes to show that separating the Victoria Secret connotation from it all may prove difficult.

I paid attention back in the Cindy/Claudia/Naomi days, but now I have more important things to worry about (Damn real world )

Chanel Iman, Adriana Lima, and a few others still get priority placement in my brain lol

Which, again, is the reason why I don't like themes.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

If you don't want girls to know that it's a VS theme, why make it a "sorta-kinda" VS theme and hope that no one notices?

When I think of being myself, being confident and having fun, VS Pink is the last thing that comes to mind.

I think after your explanation about the theme, I'm just not understanding the reasoning behind using it.
