Actually, I know of two former members of TKE who later joined APhiA--all on the same campus. As far as I am aware, it is not prohibited in all NPHC organizations to disaffiliate from, quit or even stay active in a non-NPHC organization (be they service, social, honorary or professional) and join an NPHC one. The prohibition of joining more than one WITHIN the NPHC (like the woman who joined ZPB and later AKA) is clearly stated, however.
Regarding the original poster of this thread: it has been my experience that all GLOs have the same problems and issues with regard to retention, quality (or lack thereof) of membership, financial, lawsuits, internal structure and the like. The grass may seem greener on the other side, the colors a bit prettier, but trust, head over from XYZ to ABC land--you will be just a disappointed--and put yourself in a precarious situation to boot. A better question you should ask--"is sorority life even for you?" It isn't for the weak and it sure isn't for everyone (or even most) and there's nothing wrong with admitting you made a mistake, donating your para to another sister and going about your life. It is the more noble way to go.
