Question

You all must remember that the Chapter list is very fluid!

It is best to put @ listing numbers!

LXA @ 235 Chapters and colonys. over 1/4 of a Million allums.

1. At one time, LXA and TKE were fighting each other to see who could get the most.

2. Alums flex also, why, because Greek Orgs cannot keep up with modern things such as Computors and the inept paper work by undergrades!

3. The Union and Miami Triades expanded less in the 60's while others were expanding. Ergo, the Union Triads are still to this day very small or almost non-existant!

Can I tell you today what LXA is at at, NO! Just @ !

Is one better than the others, YES, NO, MAYBE!

lol

LOL, just funny to find out one of your old thread suddenly emerged again after these 2 years beneath all other threads ...

Just a fun fact for Theta Delta Chi. I found this info:

"Theta Delta Chi ranks 35th in size with 36 active charges (houses), with over 20,000 brothers throughout the world. While only 35th in size, Theta Delta Chi has the fifth largerst endowment, with assets totalling over 3 million dollars. "

Then comes up another question. Do you believe in quality or quantity?

Of course the answer would be both, balanced.
We believe that quality is more important than quantity. But in our case (Theta Delta Chi), I think we need to put more Charges out there, since we never want to have more than 36 active houses AT A CERTAIN TIME.
As our national goes, we are really picky on where we would put our Charges at. We only want big public or elite schools. Look at our active Charges: MIT, Cornell, Darthmouth, Union, Brown, Virginia, Stanford, Wisconsin, Wiliam&Mary and Berkeley to name a few ...
Once one Charge dies down, we replace it with some other one somewhere else.

It seems that this tendency occurs only for some older GLO (prior 1850) for the exception of Betas and Sigma Chi.

So, must be nice to go everywhere to find out people you know there, sharing the same bond and stuff.

DPhiE was founded on March 17, 1917 which makes us one of the youngest NPC sororities. We have over 25,000 initiates and about 80 active chapters and colonies and nearly 150 chapters including inactives.

Delta Upsilon has 81 chapters three colonies and 4/5 interest groups.

The colonies are at Michigan, NC State and Arizona State, the interest groups are located at Delaware, Okalahoma State, and DePaul. Pacific University, Ripon College, Hope College and Colorado School of Mines have local groups that have contacted DU and may affiliate.
DU was one of the old line fraternities (IE Zeta PSI,DKE etc.) that was very choosy up through the mid 1960's on expansion, DU will probably try to increase size substantially during the next fraternity upturn.

Delta Zeta has 163 open chapters and 1 more being re-installed (next month, I think).
We have approximately 293 charters granted, though, I believe. I find it very sad that so many chapters are closed.

Well, I surely hope that this doesn't stir up any troubles, but... I've yet to see on this thread that Chi Omega has more members than any other organization for women other than the Girl Scouts.

That always bothered me, because my mother was a member of a Woman's Club (General Federation of Woman's Clubs), and she always said that the GFWC was the largest organization for women. So... I asked Jeeves! As of 2001, the GFWC had 6,500 chapters totaling over 1 million women. Which only goes to show that Mama always does know what's right!

As for Alpha Delta Pi, the latest stats that I could find (I'm having a hard time trying to navigate the "new" site!) showed over 170,000 initiates, and 136 chapters. I think my chapter would say "Make that 170,045 inititates, thank you very much!" They've made a huge comeback in the past 2 years, and we're very proud of them!

Suppose it's worth an update:

Delta Tau Delta, founded in 1858 currently has 119 active chapters and 5,850 undergraduate members. Average chapter size is 48. There are 106,768 living alumni and 27 alumni chapters.

honeychile, I am sure no offense will be taken, but I am sure as you know, this is refering to Greek Letter Orgs. If you look at APO or the Boy Scouts or any other type of Org there are more but they are not dedicated to College Fraternitys/Soroitys.

No offense taken. If you read what I originally quoted (which I've seen posted on these boards several times), you'll see a comparison to the Girl Scouts. Now, unless their real name is Gamma Sigma, they aren't GLOs, either.

The Chi Phi Fratenity currently only has 57 active chapters and 8 colonies. We also have 4 interest groups.

While we are one of the older fraternities (founded in 1824...or 1858 depending on where you stand) we did not really expand much to the midwest or the west coast.

To this day, id say about 80% of our chapters are in the south.

We are going through a period of rapid expansion now so I'm excited!
