Oh boy, the weather channel is predicting a high of 19 degrees on Saturday and 21 on Sunday in Columbus. Brrrrrr! Good luck to everyone going through recruitment, and dress warmly!
Am looking forward to hear how it all went!

Good luck with recruitment, bellefille! Even though we're rivals in football, I know OSU is a great school. Also you're so lucky to have houses! I wish we had them here. Oh well, enjoy recruitment, try not to freeze!

@LuckyKKG: Everything should be fixed up for tomorrow and it'll all be ready for the weekend! I can't wait to keep everyone updated on my own computer.
@southbymidwest: I don't even want to talk about the weather It's been so so cold lately and just snow EVERYWHERE. The RhoGams gave great advice though to bring boots and sweatpants to change into between houses so we can "hopefully" stay warm.
@psusue: We are very lucky to have houses, I think it makes recruitment a lot easier/better. Although, I know, there are pros and cons to both sides. Thanks so much for the luck (despite being rivals) and I look forward to letting you know how everything goes.
@lovepink88: Thanks so much!! That really means a lot to know that someone's interested in what I'm about to embark on
Now that that's out of the way, just a small update to keep everyone interested. Yesterday we had a short information session that really, really helped clear up any last questions we had. Tomorrow is orientation (OMG, IT CAME UP SO FAST!) and then Saturday starts the first round. Thankfully, Saturday we will not be walking around outside, however Sunday we will be. I know to bundle up and I'm DEFINITELY bringing boots and sweatpants to wear between houses. The girls all definitely want the best for us and don't want anyone to be miserable, it's definitely comforting to know that.
So like I said, a small update. I'll be back Saturday night to update everyone on how the first round went for me!

When I went through this fall it was like upper nineties and for September we were in a "cool" spell....but i definately understand the cold too as tomorrows high is only 19 here and we have "snow" (the maybe 1 inch we got and its a huge ordeal down here lol) ok but anyway please try to stay warm and good luck with recruitment...im looking forward to reading ur story

As an OSU alumna, I'd just like to clear up the quota/total system. The Panhellenic voting prior to recruitment last year to change to the "true" quota/total system. Total is 100 and everything works just the same as every other campus in regards to quota/total now. In the past, the system was a "hard total" set at 100 and a "hard quota" set at 25. Those numbers in fact did NOT prevent PNMs from joining a sorority, as "true quota" would have been lower than 25 the past few years. For example: if we would have been using "true quota" back in 2008, it would have been around 18 - there just weren't enough PNMs finishing the process to allow for quota to be 25.
Hope that clears things up and have a FANTASTIC experience!!

What I meant is that say UVW sorority only had 10 spots open. They missed out on 8 girls they could have had through a "true" quota system. Girls didn't go to the groups that could take the 25 + however many they needed to get up to total - or every group would BE at total.
So it was basically "if you want to be in a sorority, you have to go here or nothing" which is part of bid matching to a point, but this made it far more prominent. On top of that there were girls who I'm sure resented that they didn't have an equal chance from the get-go to get into some of the bigger chapters. I think it was admirable of OSU's panhel to try to even things out, but you can't legislate feelings.

We were told that quota would be a lot more than the old 25 cap! Believe me, everyone is excited about it.
Tomorrow is the BIG DAY! Wish me luck!! I'll update everyone tomorrow night

Good Morning! I'm sure you're probably up and busy getting ready for all the excitement. I hope you have a wonderful day, meet all of the terrific Greek women of OSU, and start to find your home. Stay warm and let us know how it goes!

Good luck today! Hope it goes great!!
It's wonderful that your school does recruitment on weekends only. I always disliked having to balance the second week of classes workload with evening recruitment parties.
