It's called SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome). I don't mind spending disbelief because there aren't many stories that can revolve around 11 year olds on soaps. The only time it really pisses me off is when the younger sister suddenly becomes the older sister. Guiding Light did this - Rick & Mel's daughter went from being 2 to being in boarding school. It wouldn't have been so bad if 1) she didn't have an older brother who became her younger brother, so 2) changing the ages made it look like Rick cheated on Mel with Harley, which NEVER happened 3) her aging had nothing pertinent to do with the story. They didn't pair her with anyone, they apparently just wanted her there to whine about her parents' divorce, which could have been accomplished just as well with a 5 year old.

There are times when SORAS is just so downright stupid that you are like "are you kidding me".
One that I can think of off the top of my head is EJ on Days. I remember the whole Susan/Kristen storyline. It was back in like 97-98. EJ has been on the show for like 3-4 years now. The reality is that EJ should only be 11-12 years old. Nope now he is 30+. It was so lame when it came out that he was Elvis Jr. Now, I really don't mind because they have given him some pretty decent storylines, but I mean come on, he's older than Will, who was born in like 96. At least Will is around the correct age.
I can really only think of one character on soaps that they didn't rapidly age and that is Robin on GH. The actress who plays her, has always played her and she grew up on the show.

I thought that EJ had been given some sort of growth hormone and that's why he aged so quickly. (I'm not being snarky, I thought this was an actual story.)

Being that this is the GC board, one thing that annoys me in movies is how inaccurately they depict the recruitment and bidding process. In "The House Bunny", I remember that they MAILED OUT the bid cards. WTH.

Who knows? I rarely watch Days. I swear I think I watch it like 3 times a year, when something interesting happens (like the baby switch reveal) and I still understand what is going on. LOL.

Another movie inaccuracy that bugged me was Malcolm X.
Scene in which Malcolm X found the Islam faith as far as I know wasn't depicted accurately. Most of what is known is that his brother wrote to him and showed him the way...the movie showed that he learned it all from another inmate.

Patton was incredibly inaccurate, though a good one. The thing that stands out the most is Patton himself, who was very soft spoken in real life.

LOL. EJ came onto the scene as like a race car driver or something. Kate had an affair with him (who doesn't she sleep with). Stefano came to town or Tony did and it came out that EJ was really Elvis Junior.

Black Hawk Down- While I enjoyed the movie, what truly bugged me was Josh Hartnett's character of Eversman. In the "real" situation Eversman made it out on the humvee's, but they wanted Josh to be "in" the movie and not leave the scene so they decided to change that "little fact". After I read the book, I found it annoying because I was like you are changing history, what those men did and what they died for....

Yeah, I remember that whole thing...I even remember John calling him "Elvis" but I never put the two together. Good lord, that's ridiculous.

OK, I'm dating myself here, but do any GC-ers of a certain age remember when DOOL's Hope transformed, like, overnight from 10 years old to then-20-something Kristian Alfonso?

In Wayne's World, Wayne, Garth and friends drive from the house in one part of Aurora to a club in another part of Aurora. On the way, they pass the Spindle. This must be the least direct route to get from one part of Aurora to another part - considering the Spindle was in Berwyn - around 33 miles away from downtown Aurora.
Oh yes, they do this in the amount of time it takes to play "Bohemian Rhapsody." Not possible even under the best of circumstances.
