It's really simple.
I have a gift exchange set up on elfster.com.
PM me your e mail address and I will send the invite.
Gifts are limited to $25 and I am asking everyone to please make sure they ask for a real gift and not a gift card.
The person you are exchanging with should have your address so that they may send you your gift so if you aren't crazy about letting your address out thru the exchange, then I would advise that you not do it.
last year, it was a good exchange and I was hoping for more people to join in this year.
I aslo forgot to mention, if you want to make it easier for people to figure out what to get you, set up an Amazon wishlist and I do believe you can import it onto that site...I still need to figure out how.

Just throwing this out there: if you want to participate but don't want to give out your address, you can have your person ship it to the UPS Store in your area. Even if you aren't a mailbox customer, they will hold your package for you. Only downfall is that there is usually a $5/pkg pickup fee if you aren't a mailbox holder. If anyone wants more info, let me know.

I'd do it but I'd only be making hand knit items so that kind of limits people who don't want any hand knit items. It could also end up being sent after Christmas if the requested item(s) are more time involved.

Honestly hand-knit things would be cool, but I know how time consuming that can be.

It really depends on the item and if it is clothing, the size of the person. Sweaters are out, and so are socks if the person has a big foot. Scarves, hats, fingerless gloves, slippers, teapot/french press cozies, some bags, wine cozies, cat toys, and things like that are more doable.
I'm totally knitting a Dalek and maybe a Tardis for my bff because she is a Dr. Who nerd. Since they are stuffed it isn't too crazy since it is just a knit shell. EXTERMIKNIT!

You are amazing.
I don't suppose those patterns are online are they? That might be enough to get me to pick my needles back up! (Once I find them, they're packed somewhere)

Yes, if one is a member of www.ravelry.com and many are free. There are lots of other patterns like socks, hats, and towels, one labeled as EXFOLIATE, haha.

Is there a sign up deadline? My family decides on Thanksgiving whether or not we are doing a gift exchange between the adults. If we aren't (likely) then I will probably participate but I won't know till then..

I am a member! I've just been lazy. I'll have to work on it. I'm still a knitting novice, and my last project was delayed by me and then ended because the person I was knitting for passed away.

One of the yarn stores in Coeur d'Alene is selling Harry Potter stitch markers, you know you want a set. I'm trying to forgive them for selling Boise is not a State bluorange sock yarn without offering Vandal yarn in proximity to the Vandal Nation, and their coupon is kind of helping.
Are you planning to frog the yarn and make something for yourself with that project?

I think I may finish it. It was a set of fingerless gloves and a scarf. I had one glove done and maybe a foot of scarf so it'll depend on whether I could pick up the scarf where i left off in the pattern after so long. But I'm not sure whether I'd end up donating them or giving them to friends who also knew her. I was really proud of the fingerless glove I'd finished too, it looked professional-ish. :-/
Unfortunately it's probably on hold until I move into my own place and unpack everything. Unless I want to rebuy everything again

Get in touch with me if there are any takers. Since I'm not going home for the holidays and get some kick ass holiday pay/leave I always spend it crafting.

I made some lovely fingerless gloves with baby alpaca, which I believe my kitty has taken since he has a yarn addiction and a soft things (socks mostly) fetish. I haven't seen them in a week. I do magic loop and it makes gloves and socks go so much faster because I don't suffer from second sock syndrome. You should dig out your needles so you can knit and also have pointy things to stab people. We could totally do the Special Olympics Red Heart scarf as a knit-a-long since Red Heart is low cost, if you dig your needles out I will buy the yarn for you with my JoAnns or Michaels coupon.
