So I got word about a month ago that at least in the state of NC, if you got at least an 1100 on your SATs you don't have to take the Praxis 1 (the waste of time Praxis) anymore. Too bad this rule wasn't around when I actually took it.

One of my daughters is going back to college to get a Master's of Art in Teaching/alternative certification in science. I am certified in biology (as well as Spanish) but have no idea what the science Praxis is like these days. I'm sure it has changed. Has anyone taken that?

Has anyone taken the Admin/Superv portion? I'm preparing for that one. I only took all the necessary parts of the NTE (pre-PRAXIS days) once. I'm hoping for the same results this time.
The scores for LA will change 06/06. I'm trying to take the test by May.

Depends on which one is required by your state. I took 4 of them to be certified in NJ, but they might not be the same ones that are required for where your daughter wants to teach.
In order to get a feel for the test, I took some of the free practice tests that are on the Praxis website.

I cannot believe I am reposting in this thread. But, here goes...
I'm considering moving to Hawai'i, where I would like to teach. I've checked out their requirements and I need to take YET MORE PRAXIS TEST!! AHHH!!!!!!!!
First, I need to take one giant step backwards and take the Praxis I.
Second, I need to take Life Science Pedagogy.
Third, I need to take the Principles of Learning and Teaching (7-12).
When all is said and done, I will have taken 9 Praxis tests. That makes me very .
Anyway, has anyone taken the PLT 7-12 or the Praxis 1? Thoughts? Should I buy a study guide or anything?

The Praxis I is made up of 3 sections..reading, math, and writing. I know here in Ohio you can take the tests at like a Sylivan/Huntington Learning Center on a computer. When you are done they can tell you right away if you have passed the math and reading parts. You still have to wait on the writing though. I would definately look into that if you are interested because it was a relief to know 2 out of the 3 scores right away. Basically, Praxis I is just like the ACT; basic math skills, basic reading comprehension, and writing from a prompt. I hope this helps.

So I am going through the process of getting certified in TX right now, where you don't have to take the PRAXIS. Most likely in the next 5 years or so I will be moving back to Missouri. So my question is: Since I've never taken any of the PRAXIS tests, do I have to take PRAXIS I and others? I'm new to this whole teaching thing and since Texas is its own country everthing seems much different here than any where else!
Thanks!

I meant to post this earlier...
....but...
...I PASSED ALL THREE OF MY PRAXIS TESTS!!
Due to I'm Middle Childhood, I got the pleasure to take 3 tests, one for Language Arts, one for Social Studies and the PLT 5-9. Thankfully my test scores were all high enough that I can go like, anywhere I want

depends on what the state requires, and if other states have reciprocity with other states.

So I finally broke down and registered for the reading and writing parts for the Praxis 1. I'm taking it in Jan. I applied for an alternative certification program here in Texas(Region 10) but I didn't get in. So on to plan B

Most people don't have much of a problem with the content-area tests (mine wasn't bad). You hear a lot about how hellish the PLT is, but don't believe it--that test is a joke. If you've paid attention in your methods class, you'll be more than fine.

I'll be taking the School Guidance and Counseling section in March, and from what I've heard from the people in my program is that it is a breeze
