NUH UH. Because any intelligent student can balance school and a social life and she thanked God that she's one of them.

The OP is not a good representative of WKU students, The WKU Nursing program and all Hilltoppers past, present and future.

May I add to the fray? Just had an inkling she came here because she didn't get an answer somewhere else. And, yes. There is a similar post on THAT website's WKU page posted by A. I hate lame Pretty Little Liars references.....

As someone once wrote here: somehow I think her problem will resolve itself by the second round of recruitment.

Yep. I wrote that, and lo, it is once again applicable.

Wow...I missed a whole lot of drama today! Since I didn't get to tell the OP, I'll add it anyway. Half my chapter was nursing students, including my bio sister who lived with me. I witnessed first hand the rigors of nursing school and can tell you honestly that medical school clinicals are much more laid back.

I was not discounting your advice about it being difficult. But I do know what I can handle usually, sometimes I bite off more than I can handle, but I really do know how our clinicals are. I honestly love clinicals though and they are the only part of nursing I don't have to stress about. I'm a hands-on learner and thrive in clinical.
This whole discussion got very far out of hand with people being rude and me being rude back. I came here for opinions but most people decided to ridicule my life instead. None of you know me. None of you know what I can handle. I appreciate all the constructive advice about considering how it will fit into school and how it will fit into my schedule with Monday classes. After emailing Greek Affairs I found out that most of our chapters hold meetings on Sunday nights, so this is a nonissue for me. Also in response to the one who said I posted something on another site, I didn't. But hopefully if you found a similar post I will have another senior to rush with! Thanks to everyone who put in helpful advice. And I apologize for being rude back, but everyone who is being hateful to me should reevaluate their input in this because I didn't start any drama.

An outsider's perspective (I'm a member of a NPHC sorority):
Fifth, I've been keeping up with this thread since your first original post.
The way you phrased your original and unedited post, the tone of it came off a bit condescending. You may not have meant it that way, but that is how I read it.
One thing I have noticed during the years that I have been on GC is a few NPC PNMs come here asking questions with the hope of people telling them what they want to hear.
If you've had a chance to read different threads on GC about NPC recruitment, then you should have detected that the NPC members give honest and sincere advice. They are giving you the benefit of some of the thought processes that will happen during recruitment.
You should also keep in mind that you asked your question on a public message board where any one can read and answer your question, so you need to be prepared for a variety of answers. Essentially, you got what you came for. You may not have liked everything you were told in the way you were told, but I can assure you that you received frank advice.

We are very good at answering questions. We are NOT very good at blowing sunshine up anyone's skirt. This might be demonstrated in the fact that posters here almost never disagree in matters related to NPC rush. So much so that the NPHC and NIC members who frequent this site have also been known to chime in with exactly the same line of thought on any given subject related to rush. People can come to proverbial blows about race relations, politics, abortion, whether the sun rises or sets in the east. But almost never about whether a person going through rush or not is a good idea.

If the posters here had left it after the first 10-15 posts, where you had gotten all the real advice you were going to get, instead of hounding and hounding, things might have been different, too.
There's more than one perspective.
FifthYear - as I said before. The ONLY guarantee is that if you don't rush, you won't get a bid. That is the only thing anyone here or anywhere else can promise you.
Your choice.

This can be said for every thread and every discussion since the dawn of humanity. However, people are not obligated to stop responding. The difference between GCers responding and the OP responding is the OP is the one who is out of her league. This is a lesson for the OP to know when to silently observe. We all have environments in which we are the outsiders or the minorities. If we choose to try to go toe to toe with people in those environments, we are facilitating our fail.
/lane swerve because the NPC-only advice has already been provided

Hey, I thought my questions were valid. Your GPA does matter a lot to many chapters. She needs to keep that in mind, especially if she is going in as a senior in a rigorous program. I also want to note that FifthYear's "apology" was pretty backhanded. It reminds me of when my fiancé and I argue and he says something along the lines of, "I'm sorry that what I said hurt your feelings because you are sensitive." We joke about it--because he really does apologize but, I had to point out to him how some of his apologies have that kind of backhanded feel. By saying, "I'm sorry BUT...blah-blah-blah" people don't take you seriously. That would be something important for her to realize.
I think she has a poor attitude and I do not foresee her doing well in recruitment if she goes in with this thinking. I really cannot wait to see how her recruitment ends up because the way in which she acted was pretty entitled. I'm not a nurse but, AOPi Angel is a doctor (as noted here earlier) and I just love how the OP thinks she knows everything about her program. I agree with the poster that said if her clinicals are that easy--they do not want her as their nurse. Me either! No thanks! It's like when we have students come on here and talk about how easy graduate school will be and we have NO IDEA--it's like, I have an idea because I have two graduate degrees so stop acting like you know everything. We have professionals on this site who can tell her how it is but, she doesn't want to listen. OP, please do return and tell us how "successful" your recruitment was! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Thank you for reminding me so I can properly credit you. I had it as my signature line for several months. Think it's time to use it again? I do.
