Hey all!
Yes, I am out of the country (and havign a blast) but there is a bit of news that I recieved over the past few days so...
My friend met with Beauxbatons. She feels that although they were very nice, they aren't what she is looking for, for a number of reasons.
Still no update on the other four houses though I do know a meeting with one of them was canceled due to bad weather.

Hey all!
I know I've been lacking on updates, life has been crazy since I got back.
My friend met with Slytherin today, and she is meeting with them again on Sunday. The president of the AI chapter offered to sponser her for intiation, and she is going to apply, and hopefully she will recieve a bid and know she is home.
I'm hoping it won't take to long!

YAY!
So, if the president of the Alumnae Chapter is sponsoring her and she's filling out the application, I'm assuming there still needs to be a vote at HQ or something along those lines? I just get the feeling this is very very promising!
I'm so excited!

If this ain't sorority shopping, then I don't know what is.
Just sayin'.

*snort* Looks like Buttonz friend has met with one sorority and didn't feel a good fit, then met with another one and found a good fit.
Gee, two sororities... such shopping.
What embarasses me about GC right now is that if Buttonz friend does successfully AI, I don't think she'd feel welcomed onto GC because of the whole AI issue.

How do I say this without sounding snarky?
I don't think the majority of GC newbies feel welcomed. At least, not until they've established some kind of validity. Seems there's always someone around who's quick with snide remarks.
So, if she's successful with AI and comes to GC, she'll be better received by some than by others. Not just because she's AI, but because she's coming onto a board where there are strong (and sometimes offensive - whether intended or not) personalities.
...IMO, anyway.

Well, if the second sorority does offer her AI, it means she has met their criteria and has proved a connection to that organization and/or has something extraordinary to offer them.
It's the shoppers who don't seem to exhibit either who get the harshest reception here and who I also think have the least chance of successful AI in the real world.

I guess I just don't want people to feel like they have to either avoid mentioning HOW they joined XYZ (if they're new to GC) or to avoid telling anyone when they do join XYZ (if they're existing GC members) simply because of the big to do that AI has caused here
We don't often think about the people who we know as non-greeks on GC but may be looking at joining a GLO. I don't think anyone should be caused to feel ashamed of their letters

Investigating more than one organization for AI is no different that visiting multiple houses during Formal Recruitment.

I agree, especially when the person in question, while investigating up to 5 hourses, only visited two.

I heartily disagree with this.

So now we're comparing AI with collegiate formal recruitment despite all the posts saying that AI is NOTHING like collegiate recruitment?
