I don't make it a practice to get in bitchy little spats with the local quilting bee or my mom and her friends, so why start now? I will cherish the next two years with my sisters, and I hope to look back on my college memories with a lot of fondness, but if I get to be your age and I'm STILL talking about recs and quotas on a message board, please someone shoot me in the head.

No one has been self righteous, but you've certainly been very touchy about people not telling you exactly what you wanted to hear. Secondly, how do expect people to give you any type of reasonable advice if you don't first give the ENTIRE backstory? I think everyone has actually given you very good advice...don't obsess over something that's over and done with. It's a waste of time and effort. If you want to waste your college years wishing you'd been a member of that group, go ahead, but you'll regret not embracing your real experience whole heartedly when you had the chance.
