you bring up a good point, thats their dilema.
what i said about the coaches voting for usc for #1 was what was talked about on tv, as one senario. some of the commentators were saying that during a bowl game earlier in the week, but from my understanding and from what the guys from espns gameday said, that the coaches poll will put the winner of tonight in first place.
bottom line, its a mess, and we need a change in the system to prevent things like this season from happening!

Congrats to the LSU Tigers, 2003 champs! We've got the trophy, so I guess that means we're the winners.
Nice to have SOMETHING good come from/happen to Louisiana once in awhile!

OK I am sure I am going to get reamed for this but. Although I was pulling for LSU tonight because they are an SEC team...it pisses me off because we shared the SEC West title with them. Thought we didn't get to the SEC chapmionship game..we still tied for the title. Oh well at least our guys are getting SEC west rings. Congrats LSU.

something i noticed during the game - the commentators always said that it was the "bcs national championship game" and that the winner of the game would be the "bcs national champ" they were always careful to clarify that the winner and the game itself was not the overall champ - just the BCS champ. though, maybe i was reading into that.
At any rate, in my mind, there are CO-national champs this year - LSU AND USC

Michigan had both #1's going into the game and Nebraska got the coaches poll after the bowl games to cause the split.

I did notice USC had 3 first place votes in the coaches poll which isn't supposed to happen. I wonder which coaches voted them #1 anyways?
I didn't watch the game last night since it was pretty much irrelevant to me at least.

All I want to say is.....GEAUX TIGERS!!!! Last night's game was great!!! It was the outcome that I expected. It's great to be a Tiger right now!!!! The best team definitely won. I'll even be a good sport and say congrats to USC too. It's just too bad y'all can't have that pretty sparkly crystal football we got last night.

Yay for Georgia! Ended up 6th on the coaches poll and 7th on AP. Not a bad season. Not as good as last years 3rd in both polls but we will take it.

If Pete Carroll had class, he would too!
------------
I know this was a while back, but I just caught up with this thread and this particularly stuck out at me. Pete Carroll is hands down one of the classiest coaches out there. No one can deny the fact that he's a fantastic coach (he was, after all, voted the National Coach of the Year), a great guy and truly an inspiration. He had a front page article written about him in USAToday praising him- clearly USC fans aren't the only ones who see something great in Pete! Even east-coasters like myself can appreciate what he's done. He's a hands-on coach who adores his team! He's not coaching for the money, he's doing it because he loves football and he loves his team. He has completely turned around the USC program and brought back a great sense of spirit and pride in Trojan football. Plus, he's well spoken, intelligent and has never once verbally attacked another team, another coach or even the BCS. To me, Pete Carroll is the epitome of a classy coach. Trojans won the AP National Championship title by a landslide and they won it fair and square. Why should Pete name LSU the TRUE National Champion? They're not. They're the BCS National Champion. I don't care if they have a crystal football, it doesn't cancel out the fact that they were voted #2 by the AP.
To me, it's ridiculous to go on and on about how weak the Pac-10 is (they went 4-2 in their bowl games while the Big 12 went 2-6; plus, USC's opponents Hawaii and Auburn won as well) and how USC didn't even play a good team (hello, WSU! They defeated the Longhorns in the Holiday Bowl and are now highly ranked in the BCS) this year and how they're not "worthy" of a share at the National Championship. It seems pointless to make up excuses as to why LSU should be the one and only National Champion. It's a fact: the title was split, there are two champions. You may not like it, but accept it. Congrats to both the Tigers and the Trojans- they both had a helluva season and deserve their success.

i'm not trying to fuel any debates, but i just thought this was interesting:

edited to add: i meant to post this earlier, but when i was in new orleans partying with my fellow tiger fans after the game, i saw dan cody (defensive end for oklahoma) out on bourbon street. i guess if you're going to lose one of the biggest games of the year, being able to party in the big easy afterward is only a small consolation

I was down there.. who the hell wouldn't have been on Bourbon that night? What a cool place ya'll have down there. It was a little scary the next day though after all the football fans left.
All I can say is ya'll from LSU were for the most part a pretty damned classy bunch of folks. More so than I'd heard. I was expecting to have beer bottles thrown at me, etc.. The tiger bait thing was pretty juvenile though . I guess everyone has their drunks though.

A&M coming off a season with a 4-8 record is currently ranked number 10 in the nation in recruiting.

I'm ready to get last year's Redshirts on the field and see the next installment of Fran's reign in Aggieland.

yeah, arkansas is hangin around about #20, but if we get our last 2 in state recruits we'll be around #15 with a ridiculous walk-on class as well. If that happens we could be pretty damn good in a couple years.
and I hope you're right...we're about to find out just how good Fran really is or isn't.
