There have been African American members of NPC sororities at Ole Miss. My own chapter of Theta at Ole Miss pledged an African American member several years ago.
Kimbrely Dandridge was the first African-American woman to be elected Associated Student Body president one or two years ago. She is a proud member of Phi Mu.
These are the only girls that I am personally familiar with. Maybe Mary Poppins can help us out if I missed anyone.

Good to know there have at least been a few African-American members of NPC sororities at Ole Miss. I just saw in the other thread that the story has made it to USA Today.
I wonder if the national attention from this will put any schools that have yet to undergo recruitment this fall (i.e. Ole Miss) under more scrutiny from chapter headquarters as well as university administrations???

Since Ole Miss Fall Formal Recruitment is delayed, this thread on what should go into a PNMs Recruitment Bag has been buried as most other campuses have already completed FFR. For PNMs that don't have their Recruitment Bag ready, here's the thread link:

I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully there won't be too much of a whiplash effect and dirty rushing in a desperate attempt to "get her."
"Chosen on her merits" is the goal.

Several chapters at Ole Miss currently have AA members. I understand that the Theta chapter has several AA members.
Having said that, there are some sorority chapters at Ole Miss that have never pledged an African American PNM. Personally, I would expect that those chapters might have some extra scrutiny this year, but not the NPC system as a whole. Just my own opinion....

Kimberly Dandridge is the student body president at Ole Miss, and an AA member of Phi Mu. She was released from all groups but Phi Mu before prefs, and there were whispers that alumnae stepped in at other chapters, telling them not to bid her.

DBB do you mean after open house Phi Mu was her only invite? Or did she get released later in the week?
Asking b/c I know that a WRC may have had her on their list, but possibly she didn't have them on hers, and she would have dropped off their invite list after that point. See what I'm saying? It isn't like a pnm with a sub par gpa who gets released from everyone after Open House.

Ole Miss NPC Chapters release PNMs after Philanthropy and before Skit, another round of releases happens after Skit before Pref. There's not a lot of time to pick and choose on either side, at least here in these parts. In other words, Skit is the first (1st) invitational round of a two (2) invitational round RFM structure. Schedule:
September 8 - Ice Water Parties
BREAK
October 1 - Philantropy Parties - Day One - 4:30 to 10:20
October 2 - Philantropy Parties - Day Two - 4:30 to 9:35
PNMs Rank & Chapters Release
October 3 - Skit Parties - Day One - 4:00 to 8:00
October 4 - Skit Parties - Day Two - 4:00 to 7:10
PNMs Rank for 2nd time & Chapters Release 2nd time
October 5 - Preference Parties - 2:00 to 8:20
PNMs Rank for Last time & Chapters make any final decisions per their MSM policies and procedures.
October 6 - BID DAY!

wow. that IS different. I forgot that you'd posted that schedule, mea culpa - forgive me. So - everyone goes to two parties, then invite/release kicks in.

Yep. Real bizzare ain't it? But then when I went through FFR at LSU 31 years ago, even Ice Water (first party) was an invitational.

I would be all for that for grade cuts. It would really suck for the girls who get cut before even being seen but it would eliminate that hope immediately and save party time for actually getting to know girls who have a chance. Same number of rounds but initial cut for grades? I like it!

I can't remember exactly how many invites she received for first round, but it was NOT a full schedule. I want to say three, and then all but one dropped her before prefs.
All that said, she was a sophomore.

Just a note... Kimbrely Dandridge was the associated student body president last school year (2012/2013). She has since graduated.
