BF has heavily used lawschoolnumbers.com, as well as the Law School Predictor (google it)

Good luck to Hypo and I'm excited to see where she ends up! Any chapter would be very lucky to have her

And Hypo's first term grades are FINALLY in. She did not fail The Social World or Astronomy as she feared she would early in the term. In fact, she didn't even get any C's or D's. She was praying for a C in The Social World and she did better than that. She thought the intro Astronomy class was going to be "these are the planets, these are stars, these are constellations, this is the galaxy, these are meteorites, these are comets", which she would have enjoyed. Instead, it was highly technical and heavily science focused about the composition of planets and why they could or could not sustain life, including planets outside of our galaxy. NOT her cup of tea at all!
She's very excited about her schedule next term. First Year English (has a special theme topic, I don't remember what it is), Psychology, Psychology lab, American Politics, and... I can't remember the other class! It might be a women's studies class. I know that all of her classes for this winter are in topics she is considering for a major so she is hoping she will have a better sense for them by the end of the term.
Today is "Boyfriend meets the parents" day. She and her BF went to church with her dad and are going to breakfast afterward. Then they will be coming by here. BF is a junior at the University of Michigan. She met him last summer and he went to NYC once in the fall, saw each other at Thanksgiving and have spent some time together while she's been home. Finally, the parents get to meet him.
She leaves to go back to school a week from today. She'll be there a week early because she is engaged in Barnard's Emerging Leaders Program and they have a week of leadership workshops and seminars called, appropriately "The Leadership Institute." http://barnard.edu/studentlife/leadership/programs/elp
Bid day is February 5th.

Hypo called me in a panic. "We got information about fees tonight" and I said "So how much?" She tells me and says "My next pay check is going to be really big but after that, it is going to be a lot less" and I said "Didn't I say I'd pay for your sorority dues?" She said "But did you know it would be THAT much?" And I said "Actually, that's not bad at all." She gave me a detailed list of what it all was for and I said "Oh? That includes your badge too? That's really not bad than!"
I'm glad I know what sororities can cost. I might have been shocked otherwise. It really wasn't as much as I was expecting though, for her new member term.

Just got our daughter's bill yesterday. It was exactly the same as what had been posted in the recruitment booklet, so there was no surprise. It was less than I had originally expected, too.

Yeah, they didn't post info in the recruitment booklet and everything online just said "Don't worry, they work with you on payment plans" so I really didn't know if it was going to be $500 or $5000 this term.

Hypo has been home for spring break this week and it has pretty much been a disaster. She had the car accident Friday night, within 24 hours of getting home. She and her dad had a fight about her boyfriend (who is a very nice kid, her dad is being ridiculous). I took her to ER yesterday because she had a migraine for two days that wasn't getting any better. She was completely incapacitated for two full days. When she wasn't sleeping, she was crying from the pain. They gave her a headache cocktail and she was more like herself afterward but she hasn't gotten much of her homework done. This break has stunk for her. I hope she's feeling ok the next few days before she flies home on Sunday.

:::hugs to Hypo:::
I remember the only big fight I've ever had with my dad--it was in college and related to my boyfriend at the time. Some fathers move into having their daughters date in college (as opposed to high school dating) well, and others just have a tough time with it. My dad was emphatic that if I had a boyfriend it would distract me from my studies, which was really just a cover for not wanting me to date at all. I guess he just had a hard time with that part of my growing up. It was bad--going through my stuff, threatening to pull financial support, and other stuff that led me not to trust him as much as I did. It's a shame because my ex was a good kid too--I guess it's more what these boys represent--sex! Independence! Growing up!--that can shake a father up.
