come on kids, football is a great sport. after this season, the great tradition will continue, and with that will come some more controversy. regardless, a football season with a controversial BCS is better than no football season at all. the system can (hopefully) improve from here on out, but i doubt there will be a way to make everyone happy...there rarely is.
so, congratulations to USC and their fans - you played a great rose bowl! also, good luck to OU in the upcoming sugar bowl - however, i've got to root for my school, my hometown, and my team, so GEAUX TIGERS!!!

I like what she said.
But you can really tell who those people are.
It's just freaking football. Geez.

Congrats USC!!! Wow, great game.
Pete Carroll can't vote in the polls at all because he didn't register. Not that it really matters.
Whatever the outcome is tomorrow, I'm so proud of LSU.
GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And your coach wasn't too gracious last night on the post game show, nor have your fans been ever since the rankings came out.
It's difficult to say who the best team in the country is... TCU had a great season, and were overlooked many times in the polls. OU had the points according to the computers, we had strenghth of schedule, the point spread, and the votes.
You say we should have had to win our conference, well, you don't get to play a conference championship, and you don't play all the teams in your conference, so in my opinion, your conference doesn't have a champion.
Beating the no. 4 team in the Nation does not make you a National Championship team... Play in the BCS, play by their rules... Either LSU or OU will be champion, I'm betting on OU (school pride and all...)

um, oklahoma doesnt play all the teams in the big 12 either, i mean, im a husker fan, im live here, i go to all the games and watch all the away ones on, and i cant remember oklahoma playing nebraska this year, guess they dont play every team in the conference either.
im tired of all the talk about how the pac 10 doesnt have a title game, neither do most conferences. the fact of the matter is, the trojans are the pac 10 champs, just like michigan are the big 10 champs. thats it, they ARE the champs, and oklahoma isnt. and the argument that beating the #4 team is nothing, well you complain about strength of schedule, well it proves that they can beat the tough teams.
its like this, usc will be the national champs, and if by chance the sooners win, then they will have the other peice of the championship, obviously you dont like that, so dont tell us, go to stoops office and bitch at him for his team getting their ass kicked by k state, maybe if they didnt, then they could win the outright title.

And now...it gets quiet while everyone watches the big game.
I thought that it was quite amusing how long this "my d*ck's bigger than yours" game (mostly between WOMEN no doubt) has been going on.
That being said, I could give a rat's butt as to who wins tonight. The USC Trojans, my least of 3 evils and worthy championship title holders, have already got a piece of it -- it's just up to the Tigers or the Sooners to get the leftovers.
I think I'm going to watch the FACTS OF LIFE Reunion movie on ABC Family.

Are you positive about that? I thought that in 97/98 the Huskers were knocked out of that poll but still #1 in the Coaches poll....maybe I don't know what I'm talking about (but oh well).

Congrats LSU
They outplayed Oklahoma
And now, all the media have decided to proclaim the winner of the Sugar Bowl THE National Champs!
If Pete Carroll had class, he would too!

Congrats to the LSU Tigers! The ONE TRUE National Championship Team...
You played a great game. There were questionable calls by the refs, against BOTH teams, way too many penalties both ways, but you beat us.
We'll be back next year. BOOMER SOONER!
Now, to go party!

Did they even have to play the toughest teams in their conference this year? Oregon? They lost to a 6-6 Cal team. Oh, maybe they're 7-6.
Regardless, OU did win the most games in conference out of all Big XII teams. By SC standards, that would have been good enough to win the conference, even with the loss to K-State (who beat your powerhouse Cal by quite a bit).
I wouldn't be completely surprised to see OU still win the AP poll if they completely beat the crap out of LSU.
Oklahoma would have been in the title game regardless of SC's SOS. It was a question between LSU and USC. LSU just showed to have the better schedule.
ETA: This is my last post before I head on down to New Orleans. Probably won't get to go to the actual game (can't afford $600+ per ticket). However, it should be a fun time anyhow.
BTW. Pete Carroll doesn't get to vote for 1st place. The ballot starts with #2.
|
um, coaches are supposed to vote for the bcs winner, however if they wanted to have a "mutiny" so to speak, they could vote for usc for their poll if they wanted. that was also covered on some of the shows leading up to the game, they still have first place votes to give out for their poll.

So......the coaches tell their players to follow the rules but when it comes to voting for the BCS champ for number 1, it's okay for them not to follow the rules they agreed on????
