Me neither. With endurances races, I watch them, but I’m doing other things around the house while I have the tv on. I’ll watch it in passing or if I’m relaxed, I’ll doze off (off and on) throughout the race. They’re always showing highlights, so I seldom miss anything.

On the way home from breakfast this morning I saw what looked like a 69 COPO Camaro. If we wouldn’t have been on the freeway, I’d have stopped him and asked.

What kind of Camaro is that? Do you like the Cybertruck? I see those all the time around and in my area.

A COPO Camaro was an option you could get back in the day. In 1969, GM had a corporate mandate like all car companies have. Back then, GM’s mandate said that no intermediate car could be built with an engine larger than 400-ci (cubic inches). But certain dealerships like Don Yenko’s Chevrolet found a way around the mandate by dealer installing a 427 under the hood. They had been doing that to Chevrolet muscle cars since 1967. But individual buyers got wind of it and also found the loophole and started doing the same thing by filling out COPO (Central Office Production Order) paperwork. Then, they too could get a factory installed 427 put under the hood of their new Camaro, Chevelle, or Nova.

Nah. I don’t like EVs, man. Tesla’s Cybertruck looks like a doorstop. I think it’s a great utility, product like vehicle, but poorly styled. No thought put into the design at all, to me. If any of my advanced ID students put something like that on the wall, I’d tell them to rethink and rework the styling. I don’t like Elon Musk, either. As a result, once I do buy an EV, when I’m left no choice, it won’t be a Tesla.

Dude, you’re a walking automotive library. How fast is a Copo Camaro? You think you could take one out in a race? Lol.

I’ve seen 1969 Camaros at car shows, but I wouldn’t know what a copo version of it would look like.

I think the reason people have been buying the cybertruck is because they don’t look like anything else on the road. You said it yourself that you think everything looks the same.

What electric car would you buy if right now you didn’t have a choice for a gas powered car? I’m curious.

Nah, I don’t know everything, man. I just know some things.

With the Cybertruck, its awkward looks are partly true, but people have been buying them for a variety of different reasons other than how it looks. It’s a very ugly truck.

Who’d win? An STi has an advantage over a 69 COPO Camaro because of its technology and because it has AWD. But overall, it depends on a lot of factors.

I don’t know which EV I’d buy. Most of them look the same, and they all do “sound” identical, if you get my sarcasm there. My wife wants an EV, so I’m good with whatever she chooses. I’m indifferent when it comes to those. I view them the same way I view a coffee maker, refrigerator, or a washing machine — same thing. One has wheels, the others don’t.

My mother-in-law is in Milton's path (Palm Beach County, FL). As fate would have it, my husband flew out to Florida a few days ago. MIL refused to evacuate, so my husband is staying with her. I told them to jump in the car and come here to New Orleans, but the panhandle is all ripped up because of Helene, and Tampa is under evac orders so traffic is murder.

They're stuck. I'm scared.

I have a couple cousins who are really stuck there too. They are both within 10 miles of the ocean- in New Port Richey and Spring Hill

I decided to look it up. It looks like a plain car. I would never pay it any attention in real life, if I saw one. It just looks like a cheap, old Camaro with hubcaps. Why do you say it depends? What factors? Your car is a competitor of my car and my RS is quick as hell. I think I’d smoke an old ass Camaro like that one Lol.

Right. It was a wolf in sheep’s clothing — a sleeper. The only giveaway was the blue Chevrolet logo. You see that, it’s a COPO Camaro, unless an owner is trying to make people think it’s one, when it’s not.

It can depend on personal modifications or factory packages. To give you an example, watch these short videos of a COPO Camaro with the ZL-1 package and a COPO Camaro with the same package with added personal mods. Then at the end, pay attention to the speed and time. That’s why it depends.
