lol - I never got why it was important to some, but it is, and so I never use the term.

To be honest, the only time I've seen someone get genuinely offended by the term was on here. Go figure.

This is true of 95% of the issues I've seen people discuss here, with the possible exception of the News and Politics forum.
I've never even known two people to have a conversation about Alumnae Initiation in real life, and yet, to go by GreekChat you would think it was one of the most controversial aspects of Greek Life.

I didn't even know people initiated alumni?
Is that common?
I guess starving for members you'll initiate anyone.

Edited out because I don't feel like getting in on this right now.

Here's a thought - before exposing your ignorance even more, why not read about AI here at GC, or on a NPC website? If you had bothered to do so, you'd understand that it has nothing to do with "starving for members you'll initiate anyone". Why don't you get back to the topic, and give GC readers the benefit of your vast amount of knowledge and personal experience re: fraternity mistakes?

Someone's a little touchy...
I guess it's rough when half of your chapter is made up of Alumni Initiates or whatever...
Getting back on topic (and apologizing for getting off the topic in the first place),
We had one kid come in our house last year who quoted "FrattingHard" all the time and seemed like he read it all the time when he was in High School. Trying too hard is not so cool, cut.

But, you've already admitted that you weren't affiliated last year and refused to affiliate with the chapter on your campus.

WHAT??? He's not affiliated with his own brothers??? But I thought he must be BMOC and president of his chapter the way he posts?? He was only an active for a short while?
And EW - not touchy. It's not about me (since I've known a total of two Gamma Phi AIs in all my work with my sorority) it's about the stupidity of posting a comment such as yours.
Back on topic - I'll admit that I must say surely EW is indeed the expert, nay, the poster boy, of rush mistakes.

... I'm glad you've been following everything year by year, while knowing everything I'm doing at any given point. Sort of creepy, I would think. It's certainly none of you business what has been occurring in my private life, thanks!
Ad hominem attacks in which you know nothing about me nor whether or not I would be the "poster boy" for rush leaves you with zero credibility (not that I was actually going to listen to you in the first place, because that's just plain ridiculous) but the fact that you attempt to know anything about me other than what's posted is plain silly. Like, totally, it's so like, easy to tell someones personality and their personal life by their, like posts. Right? What sort of character am I playing? What sort of role...life is a stage, we are but actors.

Who's touchy?
Actually, you can tell a lot about a person by their writing. Whether it is on-line, or in a college paper, you reveal yourself more than you know. It is true we have nothing to judge you on but your posts - but why would you argue that you are being attacked if you are called to account? Are you an active? Or an alum? With what chapter(s). It's a valid question, especially since you are so free and easy with your expertise? You are the one who set yourself up as an expert, going so far as to criticize others who have offered advice you disagree with. Sorry my use of irony went straight over your head. Some of us are having a chuckle at your expense right now.
Some of us are not playing roles - we will tell you our affiliation and our status. I am always suspect of those who won't - they must have something to hide. There are GCers I know irl, and those plus a few others are the only ones I worry about as far as their opinion. Again, you can tell a lot about a person by their posts, and I'm comfortable with the tone and content of mine.
OH NOES - I have no credibility with Elephant Walk! Someone, hold me as I sob.
Oh, and if you are going to quote Shakespeare, do it right.
eta - Okay, I don't want this to turn into a personal thread - so I'm bowing out, putting EW on ignore, and returning this thread to your regular programming.

Yawn.
Back to rush mistakes, the worst I think is when there are legacies who expect bids.
Or perhaps the hot-shot in high school who thinks he deserves a bid. Often times he does, due to his connections and background but most likely not at all.

This is, in fact, true in wisconsin. I can go into any bar in wisconsin that is incorparted in wisconsin. If the company was started somewhere else, it is illegal. But bars will take down my parents info of their liscense, and mine, and keep it for records if a cop would at all question it.

Thats a good one.
Motion to amend list to include not expecting a bid.
