One of my alumnae sisters in NJ lost her biological sister very suddenly this past winter, leaving behind a 10-yr old daughter. Our sister took in her neice, as the biological father did not want custody, and this is causing a bad reaction with our sister's 5-yr old legacy. Please pray for our sister, whom I'll call "Bekky" to protect her privacy. She has stood by me thru some very rough times and it breaks my heart to see her in such distress.

Hey girls, I know I haven't been around too much in a while, but I"ve been really busy. Just a few things, I moved to Canada almost a year ago, and I will be here at least one more year...anyway, it's been very hard being this far away from my family (home is South Texas) and if you would just pray for strength to go on and most importantly, some wisdom on some things I have coming up. Thanks guys, you're the best!!

Just a side note: It's kind of funny, I dont' wear my sorority tshirts up here because the area where I live is mainly Greek people (like off the boat from Athens!!!) . I have a few Greek friends and I told them I knew the alphabet so of course they made me say it. HAHA we have really butchered it. THey thought it was kind of cute though.

no word.... no motive, no suspects, no evidence showing signs of a struggle, no propensity to go off and not be in touch with her family and friends... nothing...

David, (husband) has a big promotional interview on Monday at 4pm EST in Atlanta. This particular promotion would be a huge increase in our family finances and allow him to be at home every night with the boys and me. Please pray that if this is in God's will, everything will go great and he will get the job.

We are moving in late Sept and I can't wait to get involved with a local chapter again and an active AA>

I just received this in my email, and I thought it went well with this thread:

DEAR GOD:
I want to thank You for what you have already done. I am not going to wait until I see results or receive rewards; I am thanking you right now. I am not going to wait until I feel better or things look better; I am thanking you right now. I am not going to wait until people say they are sorry or until they stop talking about me; I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the pain in my body disappears ; I am thanking you right now. I am not going to wait until my financial situation improves; I am going to thank you right now. I am not going to wait until the children are asleep and the house is quiet; I am going to thank you right now. I am not going to wait until I get promoted at work or until I get the job; I am going to thank you right now. I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief; I am thanking you right now.

I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are removed; I am thanking you right now. I am thanking you because I am alive. I am thanking you because I made it through the day's difficulties. I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles.

I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do more and do better.

I'm thanking you because FATHER, YOU haven't given up on me.

God is just so good, and He's good all the time. Continue to THANK HIM.

Thank you, Honey, for this reminder. I was just in tears about finances instead of being grateful that things are basically OK and definitely not horrible. I want to have NO financial worries and that does not appear to be His plan for me today. Thanks for helping me this morning!!

Sisters, I need your thoughts at this time. Four years ago, the Cedar fire (and the fire in Valley Center) devastated San Diego County. Unfortunately, we're facing worse conditions now - yesterday, two fires had broken out (one near the U.S/Mexico border, the other outside Ramona, where I lived four years ago). At this point, there are approximately 8 fires burning in San Diego County, and one of the fires has seriously spread overthe course of the night. For the moment, I have not had to evacuate, but am preparing myself if that becomes an eventual concern. The entire town of Ramona has been assigned mandatory evacuations, there are other communities that have woken up to mandatory evacuations, and they have now had to open Qualcomm Stadium as an evacuation center to house the many thousands of people who are being forced from their homes.

I will try to keep you all as updated as I possibly can - right now I'm looking outside at a huge wall of smoke just hanging over the area.

Loyally,
J

Ladies, just to reiterate what Jennie said. There are now a dozen fires going off in 3 counties of southern California in addition to the ones polarpi mentioned. I know people in almost every location and I myself am about 5 miles from one. I drove past it on my way home from eboard last night and it was awful. The blazes were huge and the smoke was so thick on the freeway you could barely see. The air quality is awful right now and it looks like it will be awhile before they contain any of them.

I will keep all of California in my prayers.....I understand because this summer the southeast has gone through drought conditions with fires in southern GA and AL, as well as some parts of Florida. Be careful ladies!!!

Update on my SIL----labor inducement is scheduled for this Wednesday!!!!! A new little legacy will arrive!!!!

Many prayers going out to the Cali people - especially polarpi. I just found out tonight that a friend of mine who's a nurse in San Diego is on one of the rescue teams. If you can remember Julie & those like her, I'd appreciate it. They must all be angels in disguise.
