Reading the one-and-only Thanksgiving Card we get, from a retired local politician who's sent them every year since he was first elected (back when Trump first experienced bone spurs).
Anyone here have a favorite Wintertime Holiday Book they plan to begin or re-read? What made you choose that book?

Now I’m more excited about “Wonder Boy”—it’s on my Christmas list. I’m a huge Fannie Flagg fan! (⬅️ Oops... guess I’m also into accidental alliteration!!)

Just finished, "Disloyal: A Memoir" by Michael Cohen. Now reading, "Born Trump: Inside America’s First Family" by Emily Jane Fox.

Love Fannie Flagg.
Thanks to mentions in various threads here on GC somewhere, this summer I read Heartbreak Hotel and Peachtree Road and Up Island by Tri Delt Anne Rivers Siddons. Thanks for the recommendation! I enjoyed those... although I decided not to finish King's Oak.

Loved Time Traveler's Wife. I have re-read it several times, sometimes just jumping in and reading certain sections. I hope you like it!

Thank you! My hubby is a Whovian, and I thought it might be appropriate!

Love that book! Wish our local library still had their copy, it was once "checked out" and never returned

I purchased it for pennies on the dollar. When I'm done reading it, if you like, I can send it to you so you can donate it to your local library.

I recently read Chalked Up by Jennifer Sey, who won the US gymnastics championship in 1986 (it was only 2 dollars on Google Books!) This was written in 2008, almost a decade before all the stuff came out with Nassar. She wrote about her experience with her terrible coaches and culture in the 80's, which would eventually get worst. I 100% recommend.

It may not be a book but you should check out the youtube series Defying gravity. It deals with a lot of the same topics and follows several of the girls who would end up on the 2020 Olympic team.
