Well, the worst thing that can happen is you fail your finals and flunk out of school.

That only happens to a small percentage of law students.

(unless you're at Cooley)

You feel better now, right?

The good news is that if you're actually studying more than stressing, you should be fine.

I am studying. A lot. Practicing. A lot. But I'm still freaking out. A lot.

Any last minute tips on exam writing?

I like to go through the exam and spot all the issues right away and type those in. After I have grabbed them all (or at least all the ones I see!) I start IRACing each of those individually. If you get towards the end and are short on time, try to at least do a quick 3-4 sentence IRAC of each issue even if you can't fully analyze it.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! I am dreading the 1st exam b/c it is handwritten and I am so much better about typing and moving blocks of copy around!!! Thankfully the rest are on the computer.

Good luck to all of you on exams!

I'm back at work and clinic (although thankfully not classes yet) and I just wanted everyone to know how much I hate string cites. See, also a lot, very much, with every fiber of my being.

The thing is, most judges don't like them either. Cite a few cases and let it go.

I was updating the appendix for an upcoming petition, so I was reformatting text from Westlaw into the appropriate format - so annoying. The cite started with Meyer v. Nebraska and went through PP v. Casey - I've never hated italics so much in my life.

Good luck, Geeky... I'm counting down my remaining semesters now that my first one is over ... LOL, only 5 more to go!

I felt that way too. Some people really got a big kick out of law school, but for me it was a means to an end. I went to a small law school though (socially very much like high school -- me very much over it all) so maybe it is better elsewhere.

It's better than having to underline cites. A partner at my firm won't allow associates to use italics in cites...EVER.

So I'm applying for jobs right now and this firm that's pretty well known in the area where I'll be practicing is hiring - my problem is that ALL my writing samples are from work I did opposing them in litigation. The only other stuff I have is things currently pending that I can't use or things from classes. This is such a weird situation.
