Thanks for your input. BTW, while we're on the subject, does anyone know the number of girls who went through recruitment at Ole Miss and how many dropped out or did not receive bids?

Sure thing, and that's a good question, I was wondering that myself!! About the number of girls who signed up for recruitment anyway. Actually, I thought about directing that question to OleMissGlitter, since she's often had those stats around this time of year. So OleMissGlitter, I know you said in an earlier post that you heard about how many girls signed up this year, but did you ever get/do you have an exact number? Just curious.

From a little rough math, that looks like almost 90% of the girls who actually participated in the recruitment process were placed (got bids). Not bad!
Just a clarification on the "participated in bid matching" vs "matched" numbers... does this mean that 6 girls went to Pref & signed bid cards, but did not receive bids? I assume these might be either ISPs or just didn't end up high enough on a bid list?

Most likely they ISP'd - under Ole Miss RFM, they should have been QAd if they made it to prefs.

Can one of you rush-savvy ladies please help me break these numbers down in my head??
Okay, so this means that 1283 girls signed up for rush but 1250 participated in the first round so 33 decided not to rush afterall, right? That's easy; I get that.
Who are the 50 girls released from the system? Are they the ones who, at some point during rush, received no invitations?
If 1250 girls went through rush and 50 girls were released and 1129 participated in bid matching, what happened to the 71 girls who were not released but didn't participate in bid matching?
And the 6 who didn't match; they probably suicided I'm guessing?
Thanks in advance for translating for this Big East gal!

I would assume that 71 are women who dropped out.

Perhaps this is an easier/better breakdown
Of the 1283 registered
1250 participated in first round
33 withdrew by first round
Of the 1250 participated in first round
50 released from system prior to bid matching
71 withdrew prior to bid matching
1129 participated in bid matching
Of the 1129 participated in bid matching
1123 matched
6 did not receive a bid (ISP?)

Ole Miss has such a strong Greek system that it's hardly comparable to any other university. PNMs are lucky to get a bid ANYWHERE at Ole Miss!

At the absolute least, you can literally count on one hand the number of schools whose greek systems really and completely compare to Ole Miss, that's my humble opinion! With Illinois, I'm no expert on their greek system, but although it's really large, I say you can't really compare it to a southern flagship university like Ole Miss. Again, somebody correct me if I remember this wrong, but I believe it's been said at greekchat that recs aren't even essential for sorority recruitment there.

Are PNMs who drop out voluntarily (because they don't like the groups they had left on their invitation list) eligible for snap bids? I thought a PNM had to maximize her options in order to be eligible for a snap bid, but I was told that snap bids were being offered to PNMs who dropped out.

Snap bids can be offered to anyone - even if they didn't go thru recruitment. You have to maximize your options to be eligible for quota additions which are not the same thing as a snap bid.

^^^ thanks KR for asking those questions, because I'm swimming with all those numbers as well. I really enjoy when other GCers patiently explain and re-explain to this West Coast/Sonoran Desert idjit.
