She has budgeted for a rug and some storage items (like for shoes, she wasn't sure what would work with her closet, etc.). Thanks for the reminder on tools. I almost forgot! We did get the command hooks.

I don't know how we're going to fit this all in the car. I don't know how I'm going to tolerate being with my ex-husband in one car for all that time. I am so much more sad than I thought I would be. This is really tough.

Good luck to your daughter! Barnard is an amazing school and I would have applied there had I not ended up magically and surprisingly getting accepted to my current school early decision. I hope she has a wonderful time there New York City has got to be one of the best places to spend your college years in the world.

We were looking over the orientation schedule and they include some events that are happening early in the school year. She took note of the Delta Gamma Anchor Splash.

And, she's gone, and kind of miserable at the moment. I'm sure it will get better. Very tough day for all of us.

I was ok last night, she was miserable. She will be ok, I'm sure. She's slower to warm up and make bonds than some young women are. She was tired, has a summer cold, overwhelmed by saying goodbyes and unpacking and I don't think she was feeling very social and sent me a text saying she didn't know how to make friends. It was just a tough, overwhelming first day. I'm sure today will be better.

She is doing better today. Having fun at the museum of natural history with her "constellation", which is a group that will do things together through their four years of school. It's essentially all the women who live on the second floor their first year. So, all the women who were 2nd floor residents during their freshman year, whether they are now seniors, juniors, sophomores, etc.

^^^Aw that's cool! I lived on the 2nd floor of my dorm my Freshman year and we all got really close. We called it "Midtown." 3rd Floor was the "Penthouse" and they stayed very close as well. I'm glad hypo is enjoying herself!

And two new FB friends have appeared on her wall. She's going to be fine.

We did the big drop off yesterday. No tears...until today. I looked at the kitchen desk where she always puts her purse and car keys, and the purse was gone. That did it. A bit later my husband broke down...he said he would have been OK if I hadn't started crying.

Last night she called and told us she'd had so much fun doing icebreaker activities. I think she's fine. I'm sure hypo will be, too.
