Meh. I agree with Jamie but not Rayven. Matt can definitely open up a little more as the show progresses; if Danny could do it, he can. Jamie on the other hand, can't necessarily pick up technique as quickly. I didn't think his solo was good, and it looked like he was trying too hard. I would have been floored if they chose someone with personality over technique who LACKED technique. Personality is great and all but not the biggest deciding factor IMO.

Rayven ... sigh. I thought it was inappropriate to tell her that she should have been en pointe. She's contemporary ballet, and while it CAN be danced en pointe, sometimes it isn't. Her Italian fouettes were kind of horrendous, so I'll give the judges that. But since Vegas, I've disliked Jessica and I thought her solo was a dime a dozen. Plus, couple to beat? Hell to the no. She needed to wipe that smile off her face during the tango and get some center/balance.

Have I made it obvious that I'm a dancer?

I am really enjoying the new season and think the choreography is great.

Was anyone else bothered by the costumes? Like in the tango, you couldn't see Jessica's legs at all, so I think that took away from her lines. And all the leather on Kourtni made her look big and awkward, even though she's an amazing dancer. Also, Kherrington should have been in heels for that number, not barefoot.

I think the girls are generally a lot stronger than the guys. I'm loving Chelsea T. & Comfort, Twitch & Joshua.

Yes! Now, I know absolutely nothing about dancing, but I do know that the costumes were terrible; especially in the "wedding" dance you couldn't see anything but that bunchy white dress. I thought it looked awful.

I agree. I couldn't see her "movement" because the dress hid her legs. In that lift that they did where he folded her, I couldn't see anything but ruffles.

you have to remember that most of the time the choreographers have a large say in the costumes. obviously mia wanted a ball of puff for the piece because she had her rehearsing in it. unfortunately some pieces are made that way so we wont always see all of the technique. i personally loved the wedding dress choice for the dance.
but i do agree that kherington should have been in heels.

I was so ready for Jessica to go home, I think it's nuts that they sent Rayven home instead.

Although, I agree with Nigel, I was disappointed that she didn't do her solo on pointe, but I don't think it was a mistake that should have sent her home.

Agreed. I know it's only the first week, but Jessica strikes me as completely disposible. There are too many other contemporary dancers and she doesn't stand out in the bunch. At least, as a ballerina, Rayven was slightly more unique.

Chris used to live right down the street from me before his family moved south. Now I am excited to watch!

I hate how all my friends on MySpace have 'VOTE MARK KANEMURA' photos set as their default pic.

Apparently he's from here but I've never heard of the guy.

I just knew you were going to post about him as the hometown favorite!

He's actually one of my tops right now... I'm still catching up on the eps from last week that I missed while house-sitting... Thank God for DVR.

Favorite dances of the night:
Kherington & Twitch
Chelsie & Mark
Katee & Joshua
Courtney and Gev (although I agree with Mia that she should have melted into him more)

My Picks remain the same:
Girls: Kherington, Chelsie H, Katee
Guys: Twitch, Will, Joshua

I'm hoping Matt and Jessica go home and leave Will and Kourtni to partner each other. although i wouldn't be upset to see Marquis and Susie go either.

Favorite Dancers and Routines Last Night:
1. Twitch & Kherrington's Waltz
2. Gev & Courtney's Contemporary
3. Chelsie & Mark's Tango

Bottom Three Predictions:
1. Kourtni & Max
2. Thayne & Chelsey
3. Chris & Comfort

If I am right, I think Chris and Kourtni will go.

For me, the guys and girls are split in half right now. I really like Will, Twitch, Gev, Joshua, and Mark...but Matt, Chris, Marquis, or Thayne could go home and I wouldn't care at all. On the girl side, Chelsea T. just annoys me for some reason, Jessica sucks, and I don't think Kourtni, Susie, or Comfort has the versatility to stick around til the end.

i think Will and Jessica could end up in the bottom 3 tonight. no one cheered for Jessica at all, but Will would still be safe by the judges.
