It will be interesting to see what the talking heads have to say after the interview is aired. Already folks are taking his comment about being a politician vs a minister out of context.

I am glad that he is getting his life back too; but we already see how his words are being used to skewer Obama (though, as he points out, he is a pastor and not a politician). I am torn about this; my feelings are also still hurt about the way that the media is constructing Wright.

I'm struck at the irony of it all: God-haunted white Christian America unwilling even to entertain what one man says, in characteristically biblical fashion--taking a page out of the OT prophetic tradition, John the Baptist and Jesus--shows that America, by and large, is enthrall to a form of national idolatry.This is a warning born of love; but for idolators this is seen as a threat or for for those whose god is the polis, who only see things in terms of political motivations, a reflection of a massive narcissistic ego (the pot calling the kettle black!).

Of course, the irony abounds. The language that they are using to describe him (pompous, arrogant), it is so absurd. That he is unapologetic is equally threatening to these people. Blech.
