I walked in to my dorm and I swear to you I had never seen so many crying girls in my life. Girls were curled up in the fetal position in the corner crying to their mothers on their phones. Others had locked themselves in the bathroom stalls and refused to come out.
I ran in to Lisa - she was happy because Mocha, Ristresso, and Cafe Au Lait had all invited her back.
Lola was a little upset, French Press had cut her and she would be going back to Latte, Cappuccino, Cafe Au Lait, and Ristresso.
Kate had only been asked back to Cafe Au Lait and Ristresso, and while she wouldn't show it, she definitely wanted to cry.
Ashley was cut by Macchiato but would be going back to French Press, Latte, Americano, and Cappuccino.
And then there was Lindsey - she was one of the basket cases. Lindsey had been cut by Americano, Macchiato, Mocha and Espresso. She would be returning only to Cappuccino, Ristresso and Cafe Au Lait.

I ran into my room to get away from the craziness

Second Invitational

I got to my first house and there was Amanda with hot tea for me. I thanked her profusely, drank it quickly, and got in my line.

I'll give some general overviews of the day because if I give the themes anyone familiar with my school's rush will know who's who already!

Cappuccino - Again I was greeted by cheers at the door and someone new picked me up. The tea had helped a little, so the girls could understand me if they listened hard enough! The room had a big stage built up at the front but it wasn't overly decorated. There were round tables with 4 chairs at each and my rusher walked me over to one and asked me a few questions about why I was rushing and such. Finally I sat down at a table with 3 other PNMs and they performed their skit. I thought it was cute and a little funny, but some of the PNMs were just cracking up laughing and doubling over themselves. I though they were trying too hard - the whole "if I laugh at their jokes, they'll like me more" philosophy. Afterwards, I talked to a few of the sisters that were in the skit. They were all very nice and I had a good time, but I didn't really feel at home.

Espresso - I was incredibly nervous standing outside this party. When we went in, the first thing I noticed was how awesome the decorations were! They really went all out with their theme. My rusher asked me a question and I tried to respond but the tea clearly hadn't helped enough. The poor girl (who was at least 7 inches taller than me) had to lean over everytime I tried to say something so I could whisper in her ear. She sat me down for their skit which was really cute. At the end, one of the girls sang a very heartfelt song about being at home in Espresso and I of course teared up. Afterwards my rusher came by and saw how emotional I had gotten and gave me a hug. She asked if I was okay and I told her I was fine, I just really felt like Espresso was where I belonged. She just kind of smiled at me, awkward? Then my rusher from yesterday come over and said hi before I had to leave.

Cafe Au Lait - I remember not being terribly impressed with this party - the girl who picked up myself and another PNM was not terribly interested in making conversation. I tried to ask her some questions but didn't get much of a response. The room had way too much stuff stuck to the walls. My rusher sat me down on the front row to watch the show. They had a few girls who could sing quite well but overall, I just didn't have the same feeling I had in Espresso or even in Cappuccino.

Mocha - By this point my voice was just gone. Mocha's room had some very cool decorative touches to it but it wasn't overdone. I was greeted by a tiny girl. We talked about how superficial the whole rush process could be and she was just so real and sweet! She seemed about as tired as I was but was still very welcoming and didn't mind that I sounded like a man. She introduced me to her big sis and then sat me down for the skit. I turned around and Sally was sitting right behind me. She asked me what I was thinking and I said I was having a great time. I had a great time at this party and knew my decisions for the day wouldn't be too difficult.

We went to the computer to rank our choices for the day and mine were pretty easy to do. Since we could go to a max of 2 pref parties, we wrote our top 2 down and ranked 3 and 4:

1 - Espresso
1 - Mocha
3 - Cappuccino
4 - Cafe Au Lait

But there was this "thing" - like having a monkey on my back, or a twin sister rushing at a different school at the same time. Oh the pressure! Oh the inhumanity!

I really couldn't resist.

listened to some catty girls say that maybe I "was weird enough to be a Cafe au Lait anyway."
So much for the Christian atmosphere at Wacko.

That better be the only similarity between that thread and yours! You will finish yours, won't you?!? Unlike the other one, at least we know where you pledged, but now you need to tell us your "code."

I've enjoyed hearing your story.

I was joking about the "thing" - I was just being a drama queen and seeing how many eyebrows I could raise, haha.

I hate pedicures and manicures. I can't stand strange people touching and rubbing my arms and legs.

Getting Pref Invites

If I thought there was drama after people got their invitations to skit round, I definitely wasn't prepared for what was coming up.

I walked over to the meeting place with Lisa and Kate, discussing everything along the way. They both decided that I would be a perfect fit for Espresso. I told them I wasn't going to get my hopes up and that I'd be happy at several of my choices, but that I really had loved them. Lisa had her heart set on Mocha and Kate was still trying to decide if she wanted to be in Cafe Au Lait with her sister or be different and join Ristresso.

We got to the building and found our recruitment groups. Then we had to sit through a lecture on how pref round was much more serious and quieter (which due to my voice I was VERY grateful for) than the other rounds. Finally, they told our rho chis to hand us our schedules.

I probably accidentally say expresso, I'm not sure why. I know it's wrong if I think about , but it seems right when I say it.
To briefly continue the hijack: Yikes. Well luckily the expresso v. espresso thing wasn't the only thing that made him crazy. eek.

Back to the thread: I think she'll end up preffing Mocha and Cappuccino!

UWacko

THE THING!! What is it?! Is it THIS? Is it THAT?

Love it. Absolutely love it. Continue please!

(I must be slow this week....I just figured out UWacko!! But if it is the school I suspect, there were no nationals back in the day when my friends and I were graceful debutante-pledges with monkeys on our backs.)
