Wow, this is definitely one of those "you end up where you belong in the end" stories, isn't it!

Oh, you don't even know yet. Bid day was going to be really surprising, for my friends even more than for me. Which reminds me.
Elizabeth's list for preference was
Chloe
Kate Spade
Cole Haan
Francesco Biasia
Jane's was
Francesco Biasia
Chloe
Cole Haan
Kate Spade
and Sally's was
Chloe
Cole Haan
Francesco Biasia
Kate Spade

I think it's interesting that you had to rank all four chapters for two preference parties.

Let's hope that she was too busy celebrating with her "new" sisters to post!

Sorry! My job is kind of taking over my life! Plus I didn't think people were really reading. I don't have time for a full preference day because I have to be at work in less than an hour, but I can at least talk about getting our schedules for pref if that makes you feel better.
Preference was on a Monday, so I went through my classes that day thinking about sororities, not school, to the point where I think I might have skipped calculus, and I never skip classes. I was really sad that Sally and I had opposite schedules for preference, which meant we wouldn't be sisters come bid day, but I was also hoping that I didn't wind up in a chapter with a million of my other friends, because the whole reason I wanted to rush was to branch out and meet people beyond my dorm. I also spent a lot of time worring that I had screwed up at Francesco Biasia, and hoping that I would get another chance there.
At 5, the four of us walked to the building where they were having the PNMs meet and got our schedules. They were supposed to really enforce the silence rule that night, but my friends and I totally ignored it, so I happily told my friends that I had been invited back to
Kate Spade
Francesco Biasia
Sally continued with her perfect track record, with invitations back to
Chloe
Cole Haan
Jill was invited back to
Cole Haan
Francesco Biasia
and was sad about Chloe, but happy to have gotten Francesco Biasia
Elizabeth had only been invited to
Kate Spade
and was getting pretty lukewarm about the whole recruitment thing.

I'm reading!
I'm rooting for at least one of you to end up in Kate Spade. (And that Elizabeth gives preference a shot - she has liked Kate Spade all the way through, despite what anyone else said...who cares if its the only chapter she has left? It only takes one. )

Well it's good that you really like your two chapters going into preference, but I will be sad if Elizabeth doesn't go to preference. I'm guessing you go Francesco Biasa.

The first party I went to was Francesco Biasia, and I was really excited to be asked back, but also really nervous! I didn't want to seem like I was hiding anything after the day before's awkward slipups. (Obviously, I wasn't actually hiding anything.) Unlike the previous days, where we had talked to the first girl in the line as we aproached, this day we walked through the lines of actives until we reached the girl who was prefing us. I loved walking through because everyone seemed to say 'Hi' to me and remember my name. I was really excited that Rachel, who I had met on activity day, was preffing me, (although I didn't know that I would only be talking with her, to I kept expecting someone to bump her.) We started by walking into their livingroom, which I hadn't seem before and was gorgeous, as nice as the room we'd been talking in at Kate Spade. They had cleared all the furnature out, and we had a sparking cider toast before going downstairs. I forgot to mention before that this house had post-its on the walls around the staircase that said things like "Jen got an A on her calculus test." I thought that was really cute. As we walked down the stairs the sisters were singing about how they wanted us to be in Francesco Biasia, and we stood in a circle in front of the girl who was prefing us. The president spoke, and there was something with candles, all the actives said something Francesco Biasia was to them, and the active who introduced each pnm introduced her to the group. My introduction was more personal than a lot of the other ones, so I felt good about that, and then there was more singing. Rachel didn't take the ceremony too seriously, and would warn me in advance that she was going to sing or whatever she was doing so that I wouldn't be scared. I was totally into it, and it made me want to know more about Francesco Biasia's ritual. Then we went over to a place where some tables were set up and had dinner. At dinner Rachel and I had a totally normal conversation, like people we had known eachother for a long time. We talked about the bay area and hyphy music, and she told me one of her sisters had decorated the room which was totally decorated with the symbols and colors of the sorority, including a beautifully painted crest, in a way none of the other chapters had been. I was really impressed by that kind of dedication. I didn't really like the other PNMs at my table, but I liked the other actives there, so I tried to focus on that. I left Francesco Bisia sure I would put them first.
At Kate Spade, I definately realized that I had met fewer girls, as very few of the actives greeted me as I walked through their line. I got all the way inside the house before anyone stopped me, which felt pretty weird. Inside though, Ashley told me that she was preffing me. I was excited because I really liked her and because she was the president. We started with desert, and I assumed the ceremony would start later. I was really excited because at my table were Elizabeth and the girl who was preffing us, and two actives. Ashley told us she had put us together because she knew we were friends (I'm not sure how she knew this and I didn't ask, maybe facebook?) We were the only two pnms at our table, all the others had 3 pnms and 3 actives, but we had 2 extra actives. This made me feel special. The conversation was the most casual I had all through recruitment, and I started to fall in love with Kate Spade. Finally, Ashley made a speech and the ritual part of their party started. Some of the sisters sang a song by a singer who was a Kate Spade, and a few girls talked about what Kate Spade meant to them, and we did something with flowers. The ceremony at this house was paired down compared to Francesco Biasia, but it was clear this sisterhood was very strong too. They also introduced us individually, and I really apreciated Ashley's very personal introduction. I told Ashley as I left that I had a great time, and I had no idea what I was going to do.
I cried as I walked back to the room where we had to write our preferences, really unsure what order I would put my choices.
I have to go to lunch with my brother now, so I didn't get to be as detailed as I wanted with Kate Spade, so I'll edit this entry with more detail when I have time later today.
