Miss India was beautiful in the swimwear contest, but the evening gown round hurt her chances. Quite frankly, I wasn't a huge fan of her dress. She could have done much better with the dress.

And I agree with you guys about the Mexicans booing Miss USA. That was very rude and uncalled for. Here's a question for you all (and I don't mean to hijack this thread), if the pageant were held in France, would you think that Miss USA would get booed?

I thought that they were booing her becuse she fell and still made the top five and Miss Mexico didn't make the top five. I thought I heard them booing and saying MEXICO! MEXICO! Either way they were terribly RUDE!

That's what I thought too. The people in the audience don't care about immigration laws. They were booing and hissing because the girl who fell on her ass advanced and theirs didn't! Had it been another contestant from another country who fell, I'm pretty sure she would have been booed as well.

Someone should tell the Donald to hold next year's pageant in Venezuela. I'd like to see him and Hugo Chavez sitting side by side.

Two Points:

1. Miss USA was booed at several events in Mexico leading up to the Miss Universe Pageant.

2. I wasn’t really surprised to hear of this considering Mexico is the same country that chants Osama Bin Laden and drowns out the US National Anthem with their relentless booing during USA vs. Mexico soccer games.

In the past I just shrugged it off because honestly why generalize a whole country based on rowdy sports fans but now I'm just getting tired of it.

And I just laughed when Miss USA fell! But I also felt sorry for her...I can only imagine how embarassed she was!
I chuckled for a second but I thought she recovered really well. I thought she would cry after she got off stage but it didnt look like it when all of them came back on. I LOVED Miss Tanzania! She looked stunning! I was shocked to see her.

*hijack*I don't think she would be booed in France, people there understand the difference between a beauty pageant and politics. People there aren't hostile towards Americans to the extent that people in America hear about the supposed hostility. I guess if you are an obnoxious American tourist, you might have a problem.

I took a group of 8 of my students to France this past April, they all loved it and not a single one had any problems, and they also stayed with French families. *end hijack*

As far as the booing...just plain rude. I'm sure had all the Americans booed Miss Mexico it would have been hugely publicized that we're all a bunch of haters. Miss USA recovered well, but I have to say, wasn't a huge fan of her dress. To me it was just blah.

I find it funny that the booing is getting to be such a big deal. Was I "turned off" by the fact that Miss USA was booed? Yeah of course, but just chalk it up to being sore losers.

I read the article that said that people booed Miss USA b/c of immigration laws, but I agree w/ OTW. I seriously doubt that the audience booed Miss USA because of immigration laws, they were just upset that Miss USA got into the top 5 and Miss Mexico didn't.

I'm sorry, I just have to say something about this and flame me if you'd like. But i'm sooo tired of hearing people generalizing Mexicans into this type of category. Am I going to deny that there are illegal immigrants who come to this country and demand these types of things? Of course not, I know there are some. But you do also realize that there are many illegal immigrants who come to this country just to have a better life for them and their children? Do you that MANY illegal immigrants NEVER go to the doctor. George Lopez or any Mexican comic might joke around about it, but the truth is, it happens! I come from an immigrant family, I can tell you from experience, its the truth. One of my good friends, fell and cut her eye on a fence and her mom REFUSED to take her to the hospital? Why? Cause she was petrified that somehow the gov't would find out that they were illegal and deport them. Many people don't use any gov't services for fear that they'd be exposed and then deported.

And the fact that they say that the illegal immigrants "demand" things, do they really? Do they hold guns to the doctor's heads and demand that they treat them? NO! I'm so tired of hearing that...they don't demand crap.

I don't mean to start drama with anyone. I understand where the Americans are coming from, I know that we, as taxpayers, pay for those illegal immigrants that want all the "free" services we provide. But many Americans don't know what its like to come from another country, to struggle to give your family the best life.

Many people keep saying "well the immigrants can just get a visa and come here legally" but it isn't as easy said and done. In each state in Mexico, they only give out a set amount of Visas a month (let's say 100). So people can apply for a visa until their dying breath and they might never get one. That's how it is down there. When I went down for a dance competition, we met a dance teacher who had been trying to get her visa for 5 years. When we got back to the US my mom send many letters to the consulate, where the teacher was trying to get her visa, saying exactly what the teacher would be doing, but did she get her visa? Nope, but her cousin (who applied only once) got a visa.

I'm sorry I'm not going to feel super sorry for people who come into this country ILLEGALLY!!!!!! They are wanting the same RIGHTS and BENEFITS of citizens yet they BROKE OUR LAW. Being that I live in a state where illegal immigration is insane, it's something that is on our news daily and that I deal with daily.

Edit: I wanted to mention that the rights and benefits of being a legal citizen is what the illegal immigrants are "fighting for" in my state. They feel that they should be able to get those rights yet they are illegal. Hence my opinion.

I have absolutely no problem with immigration, with parents wanting better for their children, but DO IT LEGALLY!

Go ahead and flame me as well, not that this is the appropriate forum or thread. I was just trying to say, that in my own opinion, I don't think they would be "singing" the same tune if they (the Mexican Government and people) had to deal with the amount of illegal immigration as we do. I apologize that it didn't "come off" that way.

Why was she booed at events leading up to the pageant?

I don't know why she was booed. Am I going to stick up for them? No, they were wrong, and i'm not trying to condone their actions.

Is Miss Universe also owned by Donald Trump? If so, maybe they were upset not necessarily at Miss USA, but at Donald Trump for requiring Miss Mexico to change her dress.

Either way, you have to take the booing with a grain of salt. I will be the first to say that the people who live in Mexico City are some of the most pompous people i've ever met. They swear we should worship the ground they spit on. Their booing is nothing to be taken seriously. Like I said earlier, chalk it up to being sore losers. Maybe Miss USA was ahead of Miss Mexico in the standings in the earlier events.

Maybe they wouldn't. But we don't know, because the roles are not reversed. I just want to ask, you or anyone, how do you expect people to do it legally? What do you mean by "legally?" Just shoot me a PM so we don't clog up this thread, but i'm just curious. Thanks

the radio station i listen to in the morning said that miss mexico was booed prior to the event because of the dress she was going to wear. it had something to do with killing or something like that, so she ended up wearing something else. is this true?

the asians cleaned house this year. i think they won all the awards this time around (photo, congenial, and crown).

Here is an article and photo of the original dress. It sounds tacky and highly offensive.
