Erik, I enjoy reading your posts, keep them coming.

There are no plans for expansion at UW-Oshkosh. They are barely surviving on their own, let-alone adding more Greeks to them. It doesn't help that the administration would rather see them fail than succeed as well.

I have not seen any indication that DU is planning to revive any of these chapters.
Marquette is actually doing pertty well as far as greeks go. I teach there in my oh-so-plentiful spare time.

UWO's admin seems to have a real hands-off attitude toward all student orgs. Not sure if there's actually a greek advisor on campus or how friendly the top brass is.

I believe they also have a new Greek advisor there. Sigma Kappa is also colonizing sometime in the near future.

It may sound egotistical, but maybe some Schools dont desearve Greek Organizations as they have no real clue what can be done by Greeks for the betterment!

There seems to be a difference in thinking of some Schools about GLOs and Yet while they are building Greek Courts or Areas, I just wond if it for control only?

Greeks are Big Business for Colleges by Alums coming back for events and Charity Events that are done let alone Home Coming. Money spent in any Greek College Town and donations!

I think UW-O's administration takes a 'we don't care' approach rather than a 'hands off' approach. They have had 3 or 4 Greek advisors in the past 5 or 6 years, not including the stand-in's when the advisors up and left. The last one who truly believed in and helped the Greek System, died during his reign. What a great guy he was. One of the most recent advisors (two guys ago I think), had it in him to see the Greek system dissolved. Why he'd want to be the 'Greek Advisor' is beyond me. I believe he's in one of the big IA schools now, probably wreaking the same havoc he did on us.

I do believe that every school deserves a Greek system (well, within reason, you know what I mean).

busybodies

A couple of you in here have to take exception to almost every item presented. You know, there are a few others who have a law degree and a syntax shingle. Do you guys have any friends?
In Platteville, frankly, in 1958 there were a few dipshit locals and
that is precisely why I vetoed going there. You do know that TKE was the first real GLO who came to Platteville, don't you? You do know that TKE turned Platteville down, and therefore was not the pioneer. The Ulsviks were very disappointed in that they'd hoped that TKE would be the anchor fraternity. TKE came on years later, long after the various brouhahas with nat'ls there. The fact that your '58 local was a GLO is laughable. Gamma Phi Beta
would not have touched those lizards.
A few of you persist in trying to shoot down some of us who try to
bring a modicum of historical perspective. We do not give a rat's
ass about your colors, step shows, or your recommendations
There's room for all, but not for the puerile corrections on things
you do not know jack about, you puffed-up Penelopes...

It's funny, because Gamma Phi Beta did touch those intelligent women and make them a chapter of which I am an initiated member. And it was an 1868 local, thank you very much. Then again, I don't think anybody has ever said "If you can't go Greek, go Gamma Phi." It just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Also, Ullsvik. I walked past their building every day for two years.

Erik, your insults to other GLO's is unnecessary and mean-spirited. Your insults to other posters and women is also unnecessary and unprovoked.

why don't you turkeys...

look at yourselves and the cheap shots and ill-founded criticisms
you share with us rustics...you add damned little here and hide
behind your 'moderator' moniker.
And, in the case of 33's Platteville...again you blundered...in '58
when I was there there were NO nationals, and a few pimply-
faced locals, most with no greek names. Delta Sigma Phi pioneered there in 1966 long after TKE rejected the invitation. I
know 'cause I was the principal involved in making that decision.
Gamma Phi came on even later, so your own time frame at your own school is fubar.
Why don't you girls calm down, get some powder, and sit back
and enjoy some fraternal offerings....

Dude, I've never been to Platteville. But I kind of like the Beatles.

Apparently I'm spending too much time near those Stations of the Cross and it's rubbing off!!
