Congratulations to all who are expanding. About AOII's expansion at the U. of Arkansas, specifically, a news report on U. of Arkansas Board of Trustees actions says that the trustees have approved the construction of a new AOII sorority house there. The plans are for a 30,000 square foot house with 85 beds at a cost of $7 to $8 million. The trustees have approved the architects and construction company, as well as a land lease arrangement. The article is available through nwaonline.net at
http://www.nwaonline.net/articles/20...oardbriefs.txt
The article headline is "University of Arkansas Board of Trustees Notes," and the AOII news has a secondary headline (scroll down) "Board Approves New Sorority House."
So it looks like housing is in the works! I thought this article was also interesting for the insight it gives on some of the the potential cost of expansion at a major SEC school. (By the way, there's also an article on trustee approval of a Sigma Nu fraternity house in the same "notes" of the trustees' meeting.)

This information is incorrect. No plans have been finalized at this time, and the cost estimate is not even ballpark.

Phi Sigma Sigma Expansion
Phi Sigma Sigma colonized last month at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. I'm not sure what other sororities are already at Barry University.
Also, Phi Sigma Sigma has been invited to colonize this Fall at Grand Valley State University in Allendale Michigan. At Grand Valley, Phi Sigma Sigma joins a strong Greek community that includes five National Panhellenic Conference sororities – Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, Delta Zeta and Sigma Kappa.

There is currently only one other NPC at Barry (Alpha Phi) and one multicultural. We closed our chapter there recently.
Congratulations on your expansion at Grand Valley.

Tom, unless you can magically increase the number of women going through recruitment and pledging there, expansion won't happen no matter how many times you write it down. The "old blood" might be offended by that, actually - it sounds like you want to get rid of them at the expense of new sororities.

Sorry but not true!
We have had close relationships with all of the 3 Sororitys there through Marriage or Children belonging.
If there is nothing there that might excite New Girls, then it is dormment and not growing.
If it is growing, then it will help all Greeks.
Odd lot Numbers:
3 Sororitys
6 Fraternitys + One wanting to return=7.
You figure it out!
Yes, I know about expansion!
Need an Alum in the Area, Need Chapters in the Area!
Kansas Un, K-State Un, Mo State Un, CMoStUn, Un. Mo Rolla, Un. Mo. ,UMKC, Un. Ark., Tulsa Un., Oaklahoma Un. Oak. State Un., Emporia St. Un., Drury College and Washburn Un.
Why can We have for a Rebuilding of My Chapter and Brothers are coming from Drury, K-State, Un. Ark?
Maybe We care More!

Figures out to be perfectly fine. That's about the ratio at most schools.

what a wonderful, well-thought-out post that intelligently addresses the realities of PSU's greek system.
(in case that doesn't come through clearly enough, it was a sarcastic post commenting on your total inability to comprehend the realities of the sorority system, specifically at your school, and how things work)

Once again I want to Thank Thank Thank You for Knowing More about My School than I do and and the surrounding Colleges than I do and knowing My Feelings about Expaned Growth.
You do it so well, but You are a Legal Person who thinks with a Book and not the Heart of Caring!
God.!
God, I think I will go smoke some dope and Get Real like some that I can think of do! Oh, that is not dope, that is a High from Being Important or is it Impotent?
I am still trying to remember if a certain Sorority that was the last that tried there didnt make it? Can You check and see for me?
