Okay, so I was spoiled because I wanted and actually got my very own Easy Bake Oven one Christmas. Mom never let me use it though. Why buy a kid a toy and NEVER LET HER USE IT? Just saw a clip about EBO's on Unwrapped recently which was most cool.

I always wanted a slot car track though. DH & brothers had one when they were kids and he always wanted one. So, we finally surprised him last Christmas with his very own track.

Add me to the list of wanted but never got an Easy Bake Oven. I wonder if anyone has ever used a deprived EBO defense in court.

I was heartbroken to realize that I was confined to straight lines and I'll always wonder how they faked those pictures back in the day.

Huh? You can totally make curves with an Etch-a-Sketch! Just turn both knobs at once. I made some really cool drawings with mine (it was from the late 70s BTW).

Carnation, I suggest you run out and get an Etch-a-Sketch and try it for yourself.

I really wanted the imperial walker and millenium falcon as well...had tons of SW figures (even the ones you had to send away for) but never had the big toys. Just the x-wing and y-wing.

If you haven't sniffed or tasted the electronic part (the piece of the cartridge that goes into the nintendo system) of those nintendo games you're missing out.

I really wanted the 4 foot tall, 2 story Barbie Manhattan Apt with the elevator. My cousin got one and I was so jealous.

Unlike most of you, I GOT the Easy Bake Oven and couldn't stand it afterward. Everything took FOREVER to cook (because you were "cooking" with a LIGHTBULB) AND there was a limited supply of frosting.

Walmart has had their Peeps makers on sale the past couple of months. We got a bunch for $4 each and have been using them for birthday presents...I suppose we're getting predictable ("Yeah, that present over there the Carnations brought is probably a Peeps maker.")

I've seen them on eBay too.

Thank goodness for large families!!

Wow, do I feel lucky now. My parents had our gifts down to a science each year. We would each get one "put togther" gift, some clothing, a board game, and a fun random toy. Since there were four of us, chances are ONE of us would get the coveted gift from the year, so we'd all be able to play. Of course we never got everything we wanted. No Nintendo or fancy game equipment until one of us would buy it. A family gift one year was a Coleco Vision though, which was pretty sweet.

As I read through the posts, I realized how good I had it. I did luck out and get an Easy Bake Oven and the My Little Pony castle on consecutive years. Mousetrap was a family gift game one year, and one brother got Fireball Island too. My family and I still play the random silly games when we go to our vacation house. We're such nerds I know.

For this year gifts though, I did see a Slurpee machine for sale this year though....and I do enjoy the Slurpees....(I know, I know...I own a blender, but there's something about the name.)

I used to get so annoyed when I would hit the power button on the NES and it would just flash on and off. That's what I hated about cartridges - they got dust on the inside and wouldn't work right. Now the games on CDs you have to be careful not to scratch....

Anyway, I remember wanting the GIJoe Aircraft Carrier...The thing was huge, and probably about $100, which is steep for a toy now, let alone the 80's.

Yes, I too wanted an easy bake oven. Now I have a real oven and hate to cook-maybe if I had gotten the easy bake oven things would be different?

I also wanted a snoopy snow cone machine.

Considering I was a child born to parents who were 16 and 19 years old (who are still happily married by the way) I had it pretty good....

i had the easy bake oven one year (i didnt even ask for it, my mom thought it looked cool) and i had a blast with it... but i lost that damn handle that sticks into the side to get the cakes and it went into the closet to never emerge...

i had the barbie town house with the elevator up the side...which was a ton of fun... but hurricane andrew ruined its cardboard backing and i had to throw it away

i was weird...i never "wanted" anything.. i was very content with my books (im a nerd i know) and the one cabbage patch doll i had that went with me EVERYWHERE... i took very good care of what i did have and didnt really crave "newer" things....but once i got newer things they became well loved and well used...

BUT...the one thing i DID want... was a mall madness game.. a friend of mine had it and we played it all the time..i was obsessed with it... but thinking back i dont think i ever verbalized that "want" to my mom... hmmm maybe i would have gotten it. i dunno

Horrid, vile man....

but your post made me LOL!

ETA:
I realllly wanted a toy piano. I thought I'd be like Lionus (?) on Peanuts, and play all of these great songs. Then I got one and it sounded nothing like a piano.

My little sister used to read the Sweet Valley High & other Sweet Valley series books. I would have to borrow hers to read b/c she always got the books as gifts while I got the Babysitters Club. I wanted to read about the twins & not babysitters.
