I'm going to give to the Salvation Army and to the McCormick Tribune Foundation (I like the matching funds idea).

Also, for those wishing to help the stranded animals check out the Best Friends Society at www.bestfriends.org. they are working with the ASPCA and American Humane Society to rescue animals and possibly even bring some back to Best Friends Sanctuary. The Best Friends website had a couple of good articles already about the animal shelters and how they evacuated all the animals this time before the hurricane hit.

The McCormick-Tribune Foundation is now matching 50 cents for every dollar collected for its Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund up to the first $2 million! (see above for link)

Meanwhile, the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is accepting pets for people who are in Red Cross shelters. They will also be transporting animals from New Orleans to their shelters. They have a wish list, but the most urgently needed things are money and kennels.

Fixed for you. This is what I sent to the Red Cross, also, along with a local group heading down there.

I just donated to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance fund and that bestfriends.org site that is listed above.

If I could donate my entire paycheck, I would.

I give a set amount per pay check to the redcross already so I am not donating more but I did go ahead and get bottled water and formula for the trucks leaving this area for the south. By the time it gets there they will be better equiped to use it all.
