Well I'm back and not nearly as excited. I went to PepperAnn and Doug. Doug just didn't feel like home. Like I didn't feel like these girls were really interested in me xcept for my race. They kept saying how they all heard soooo much about me and wanted me to come back, but I don't know. In PepperAnn I liked their skit, but I don't think they will invite me back. I would really love it if they did, but a lot of people were invited back to them so I know they have a lot of people to choose from. So I don't know. I am getting kind of apprehensive. I guess I can only wait for tommorrow. I really wanted PepperAnn, but whatever happens happens.

But I know I am lucky. SOme girls only got invited back to one house and that was Doug. So a lot of girls were upset and even said that they are quitting.

Thanks again for all the comments. They are really helping to make this week stressfree. I actually feel ahead of the gang bc of all of the suggestions on GC. Can't hurt, might help. lol.

I think that if their are 108 girls still in rush then quota should be around 25 or so (with 4 sororities) I don't think they make quota until pref night.

Also, and I don't know if it is ok to say this (I am not in the sorority that I am about to mention, no "dirty rushing" and all of that). I won't mention the sorority by name just in case it is not ok. Condileeza Rice was in one of those 4 sororities. (not that specific chapter but that national organization i think from California) I found that very interesting.

Yeah I knew about Condoleeza Rice being in the sorority. But I didn't want to join a sorority because they had black members, I want to join one because I like the sisters.

Like I said earlier, they saw something in you when they invited you back today.

I personally feel your chances are good, just keep thinking that.

As for Doug, just remember to keep an open mind. Take it as a compliment that they had heard so much about you and they wanted you to come back.

Well it was a compliment to be invited back and that they talked about me, but their house just doesn't seem like the right decision. It really seemed like all the girls going to that house only went because they had to. We aren't allowed to turn down invites unless we got four. And the parties at their house had like 10-15 people today. And everyone looked glum. I am trying to see the bright side of it, but I don't know. We'll see. I just don't want to pledge a house and spend all that money if it isn't true in my heart. If I get cut from PepperAnn what could I do. They don't do COB at my school so I don't know if there would be any other opportunity. And I feel like Doug will give me a bid. I'm in between a rock and a hard place. Ahhhh, confusion.

OHHH Man, I am soo sorry I didn't mean it that way. I meant that I love Conde Rice, and she is in that sorority. My best friend was also in that sorority @ bama, and I told her that to cause I just love Conde Rice. Wow, I guess it did look bad to say that.

Oh well, listen don't worry about the "cuts" usually it means you are heading "where you belong." Even if you get your second choice, give them a chance.

Oh yea, and I went to a smaller school and I was told this by my "rho chi" ALWAYS put down all 4 sororities. No matter where you went for pref, cause you never know how those lists fall.

And really how different can those 4 sororities be between eachother. (this is coming from a 34 year old) There are always various different girls in every sorority so no matter where you end up there will be a place for you.

DON'T STRESS you seem like you have something to offer any organization.

If a house doesn't make quota OR is not at campus total, NPC regulations allow for COB. The school can't prevent it, as far as I know. And I know a lot about NPC regs.

Look at it this way, too - do you see anything in this house that appeals to you? Do you feel that you could make a positive impact on the chapter and be a force for positive change? If so, it might be worth accepting a bid from them.

Yeah I know but I have already been cut from 2, and might get cut again tommorrow. So the only one I would have for pref is doug.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about why everyone else is at a party or parties. Everyone else won't be making the decision that's right for you. At the very least, I say if you get the invitations, stick it out til Pref. Maybe Doug sees something right now that you don't. At any rate, I would say it's not something to worry about until you see the invitations, anyway.

Like I said, though, I would at least stay with it until after Pref. I was cut from ALL sororities on my campus during recruitment during the FIRST round of invites. I would've been happy at any of the chapters, so I don't understand people who get invitations and drop out, anyway, at least without giving all the chapters a fair shake. Luckily, I found my home, and with any luck, you will, too!

I totally understand where u are coming from. It is not what the other girls are saying that is influencing me. I felt like they wanted me because I am a minority and I didn't really like that. Plus I just didn't feel that good a connection with the girls. They seemed like they were intimidated by me, and some seemed totally disinterested. So I'm confused. I did plan on going to Pref night. I don't want to just drop out. But I have my heart set on PepperAnn, so if I don't get it I don't wont to settle for 3rd out of 4. Doesn't seem like a good idea, since it is a lifelong deal. If anything I would want to go thru again and hopefully get one I really love.

OK, they do conduct COB at SHSU. I just checked our chapter's website there and they had new members for Spring '05, which means COB does happen.
