Marty is running away with this competition. I so enjoyed his encore of "Wish You Were Here." Some of the INXS band members were wiping tears from their eyes-- it was so moving. From what I've read, what we didn't hear, is that on Tuesday night's show-- the crowd went so wild, they were clapping and cheering his performance for more than two straight minutes until David Navarro had to finally quiet everyone down. Marty owns this contest!
I have never made it a secret that I don't care for Ty's voice. But, I had thought he was a decent person. I was quite disappointed, however, in Ty's closing statements. He said, "It hurts me a little that as a people that I belong to that we’re not appreciated enough in rock n’ roll that I could put out the performances that I put out and wind up in the bottom three for this many weeks. Because I know what I did, and so that hurts me and I can’t pretend that I don’t know why it is.”
How dare he pull out the "race card?" That was just poor sportsmanship.. and he has probably now ruined any chances of getting work in the future. Come on... Jordis has only been in the bottom three ONCE (last night-- for the first time) and she is "a people you belong to."
Now, it's time for J.D. to go. He didn't learn the INXS lyrics in Tuesday's show, and he can't even take ownership for that. Instead, he puts blame on Susie for telling it like it was. He's an obnoxious person. I hope to see him eliminated next week.
For fellow Marty fans... great new interview:

Hopefully it was just frustration coming through in Ty's remarks. He did well on Tuesday and although he didn't remember "my", he was the best of the B3 performance wise last night.
For someone who dreams of being the last RS:INXS, JD blew my song. Yes, my song, thankyouverymuch. Sure, it's not a super hit but if you're a casual INXS fan you'll know This Time.
It's starting to look like you're B3 you stay there. Well, unless you're Suzie. Also, the grassy knollers noticed that whoever goes 2nd on Wednesdays goes home and that theory was supported again last night.
Marty's encore was so much better last night! I don't know if he's really right for the Binxies, but oh, that was glorious. No matter what happens, I think we're watching the birth of RS:MC.

I might get flamed for this post, But you know what? I tend to agree with him--and i'm not black. There has to be something MORE to why he was in the bottom 3 for a few weeks. I personally thought JD had to go...i didnt like him, and he wasnt a very strong performer (to me). I loved Ty, he was one of the only ones to show versatility in his performance. Yes, Jordis is black, I don't think that had anything to do with it though. Ty might not have looked like INXS material, but I am pretty dissapointed they would let him go. He was one of the strongest competitors. Even though I dont like when people assume, there had to be AT LEAST a little truth behind the fact that he was sent home b/c he was black. I had this discussion with my family (who also watch Rock Star: INXS) and they seem to think the same. We ALL were rooting for Ty...its sad.
But on that note, I do also think Marty is really strong! He's my mom's favorite, I think he has the look, but I dont think he's the best. Susie's performance was AWESOME!!!!! I loved it!
Hopefully they'll make the right choice (JD) for elimination next week!

Ty was not right for INXS, plain and simple. It had nothing to do with his race. It had all to do with his music style. He's a gospel/R&B singer. INXS is not a gospel/R&B band.
To use race as an excuse for why he was sent home was low and uncalled for. It was poor sportsmanship. It made him look like a baby, and he probably ruined any chances of getting hired in the near future anywhere else.
How DARE he imply that people didn't vote for him because of his skin color? I guess he forgot that he lasted a whole lot longer than the nine white people eliminated off before him.
I didn't vote for him because I don't like his voice. As I stated many times, I would turn down the sound whenever he came on. I don't care if he's black, green or purple... I don't like his voice. I didn't like Deanna's either, and turned down the sound for her performances too... and she's white. Race has nothing to do with it. Sound quality and being "right" for INXS does.
I like INXS and have a few of their CDs. I certainly would not buy one with Ty fronting the band. But I also wouldn't buy one with JD fronting the band either.. and he's white.
Maybe when JD gets voted out, he can now go on a tirade about being discriminated against because he's Canadian. And if Mig gets voted out, he can go on a tirade about being discriminated against because he's a minority from the Phillipines. If Suzie gets voted out, she can claim that it's because she's a woman... and if Marty gets voted out (gawd forbid!!!) , he can blame it on being a man.
Ty... you got voted out because you just weren't right for INXS. That's all.

And if you know anything about the history of rock music, you'll know that rock and roll music got its start in the blues and R&B tradition. In other words, white rock stars heard the music that black musicians were making, loved it, and co-opted it for their own.
I'm not saying that what Ty said is right (cause I stopped watching this train wreck a few weeks ago), but just because someone sings R&B/gospel, it doesn't mean that this person can't make the leap to rock music. Little Richard, anyone? Ray Charles? Jimi Hendrix? Tina Turner? Can I get an amen?
My issue with Ty wasn't that he was an R&B singer, it was that he always felt a little... "show tunes" to me. It was in his phrasing and how he carried himself on stage. In that respect, I'll agree that while he was the best singer, he was wrong for INXS.

That is absolutely correct, Sistermadly... rock had it's roots in blues and R&B. My favorite band of all time (The Beatles) often stated that they received their influence in blues and R&B.
However... the absolutely amazing Ray Charles, for example, certainly wouldn't be appropriate as front man to the Beatles (if all were alive). It is a different style and a different sound.
Ty was unsuccessful in his attempt to make that jump. In addition to his gospel background, he had too much of a "broadway" theatrical presence. He would smile through even the saddest songs. And that Mohawk... definately not right for INXS...nor was that wierd thing he kept doing with his tongue!
But to sum it up-- Gospel and Rock are different styles. Ty did not prove to Inxs that he could make the jump to rock. His style was not right for the band. It had nothing to do with race. I'm sure Pavorotti, one of the greatest Opera singers of all time, would be voted out as well! Great singer, but not right for INXS!

Well said! I still love his voice but he's just not roit
The more I think about it, the more I'm wondering if any of them are RFOBINXS.

If you missed the VH-1 show this week, oh boy, you missed a show. Here's the highlights of the reality show:
TyRiffic tribute, lots of sniffling around the table post Tylimination.
Levi's (product pimping) Rockstar modeling
"Eyes! Eyes!"
"Do I look too sexy?" "No!" (funniest line of series to date)
Happy birthday cake fight AND resulting shower scene.
Two songs on the Tuesday show this week, courtesy of Dell (product pimping). One is that viewer's choice encore, and everyone is doing the wildcard choice. The other song choice is an original tune, which means we get TREES on Tuesday night! TREES!
Do y'all want Tuesday night spoilers around here or not, since the Tuesday show tapes on Sunday nights?
We got one shot
So let's use our imaginations

First and most importantly, the TWoP crowd has been welcomed with open arms over at RockBand.com. There's also a yahoo group for us displaced addicts at RockStarRefuge but it looks like the bulk of the bunch are at RockBand now. I'm trickbabe on both (get your minds out of the gutter, it's in honor of my beloved Cheap Trick.)
<Spoilers>
The opening and closing performers KICK. The others, not so much.
Maybe OB:INXS are playing the "reality show" game with their comments. Maybe not. (I'd love to know what they're thinking at this point.)
Major Props to LAX, JYM and Co. from OP: Dave! He loves them, he really does!
Fashion report=Levis.
TREES was all that and a glass of peachy kool aid.
If you believe in the grassy knoll, sounds like the comments for one of the hamsters are kinda foreshadowing.
Instead of the top 3 at the end of the show, Brookie will intro the results (1-5) from the performance show voting.
</Spoilers>
Whew, hope that was obtuse enough not to spoil anyone who doesn't want it. Andi, PM me at RockBand once you get there (and same goes for any other GCer who joins the snarky addictive fun!)

I didn't think Jordis was on, at all, but I kind of liked her original. The band's comments, I think were some foreshadowing. She's going home tonight.
JD-his CAYA was OK until he picked it up at the end. Should have stayed with the mellow vibe, methinks. But that's JMO. That was original lyrics/melody, but it sure was nice of everyone to let him use the INXS track as his original song....
Mig-Oh Mig...that original song was so not roit. He hurt himself with that selection...
Snoozie-I actually liked her original - she has good pitch, but I still don't think she's roit.
Marty-I loved "Trees" but still don't get that "Everlong" song...it's just a little too quirky. He was my favorite...I imagine if they do an encore, Trees will get it.
Bottom three - Jordis, JD and Mig, Jordis (sadly) going home. She was my favorite before the last 3 weeks or so....

Agreed. It was a mishmash of everyone and everything. Andrew just didn't look happy. PPoD rawked big time though. I forgot that the boy could play some serious guitar.
