"Life is like a moustache. It can be wonderful or terrible, but it always tickles."

"Faith in yourself is believing that whatever it takes to get through...you have."

"That's what people do. They leap, and hope to God they can fly, because otherwise. you just drop like a rock, wondering the whole way down, why in the hell did I jump?" -from the movie Hitch

"Don't just live and let live. Live and help live."

"General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around." -from the movie Love Actually

A different sort of quote:

Charles Schultz Philosophy

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions.
Just read this straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pagent.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Acheivements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." Charles Schultz

"...And when you laugh be sure to laugh out loud, cause it will carry all your cares away.
And when you see, see the beauty all around and in yourself, and it will help you feel okay.
And when you pray, pray for strength to help to carry on when the troubles come your way.
And when you dream... dream big."

An Old Farmer's Advice

Words that soak into your ears are whispered... not yelled.

Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.

It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.

You cannot unsay a cruel word.

When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

The best sermons are lived, not preached.

Don't judge folks by their relatives.

Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.

Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.

The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with
watches you from the mirror every mornin'.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment

If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence,
try orderin' somebody else's dog around.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

Send a message via AIM to USFAlum
here is one my <> sister had on her away message on AIM. I thought it was so cute i stole it!
"Women are like applies on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. The men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instrad, they just get rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but EASY. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality the are AMAZING, they just have to wait for the right guy to come along. The one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree."

I also like this one:

We all want to fall in love. Why?
Because that experience makes us feel completely alive,
where every sense is heightened,
and every emotion is magnified.
Our everyday reality is shattered
and we are flying into the heavens.
It may only last a moment, an hour, or an afternoon,
but that doesn't diminish its value,
because we are left with memories
that we treasure for the rest of our lives.

Barbara Streisand in "The Mirror Has Two Faces" -

"I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough. " -'Noah' in the movie The Notebook

"Change is never easy. You fight to hold on. You fight to let go." -from The Wonder Years

"If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy. They just promised it would be worth it."

"Fate determines who walks into your life...You determine who you let walk out, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go."

"Love is everything its cracked up to be...it really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk everything, you risk even more." -Erica Jong
