Hey guys, I'm a newbie (as you can probably tell from my # of posts), but I'll be attending LTS this summer.
My name is Leeann and I'm the collegiate delegate from the Nu Chapter at the University of Pennsyvania. This is what I look like, in case y'all want to say hi:
Also, I'm flying into Newark late Thursday night...I hope it's not too far from where LTS is being held...
LIOB,
Leeann

Welcome to GC! We'll look for you at LTS.
If you are flying into Newark then it will be about a 45 min train ride to New Brunswick (and then about 4-5 blocks to the hotel, so be prepared)

Has anyone gotten their second info packet yet ? Just curious cause it's like next weekend, and I have no clue about where the train station is, and if there's anything else I need to do before leaving.

I was worried about the info packet thing too (I haven't received anything in the mail yet), so I called Lisa Wallace (she's the membership mgr for regions 5-8) at PhiSig HQ. She told me that the packets were dropped in the mail on Saturday, July 16th and should arrive within a week.
She also mentioned, in the case that it doesn't arrive, that there will be extras at the hotel.

Leeann

The train to the hotel leaves from the airport. There are a ton of signs to help you and depending on when you come in there may be someone w/ a Phi Sig sign to direct you. Were you able to switch your flight? Even if there is not a sign the station is fairly easy to find, you just need to get a ticket to New Brunswick station from one of the machines and it's about a 45 min trip. Once you get to the NB station it's a short walk to the hotel and if you need to you can give Beth a call (good lookin out Beth, way to volunteer to help a sister )
The only thing you really need to do before leaving is to make sure you have emailed HQ to let them know your itinerary. Besides that you just need your raffle gift, philanthropy item(s), an appropriate white outfit, and of course your badge.
See you all soon.
Tara
Edited to add: The packet is mostly the information sent out in the previous packet. The only new info is more detail regarding proper attire for the different events and the Plenary information guide which includes parli pro notes, the seating chart, and information on the Foundation vote.

i think the last packet said they highly recommend white shoes, correct?
I really can't afford to buy new shoes, not even $15 for cheapies at Walmart, but if I'm the only one not wearing white I might let Mr. Mastercard pick it up.
so what's the consensus?

Yes white shoes are preferred. There are always some people who wear other colors (my favorite from last year were the hot pink heels), but most people wear white. They don't have to be anything fancy and even trim in another color is okay.

yeah, I spent $100 getting a white top and skirt...of course I saw the skirt on sale this week
I think I'll bite the bullet this year and wear red shoes (i have pink ones, but they're a little too scruffy looking).
If I go to Convention next year, then I'll splurge on the shoes.

I actually have white shoes and I LOVE them and I'm excited I get to wear them again. I bought them about a year ago and I've worn them a few times, but don't get to very often. =) ETA my packet did come, but it doesn't say anything about the train, what about those poor people who don't have GC to tell them about that ?

the last 2 times i've been, tehre were always people at the airport waiting near the luggage pickup - so for sisters flying in it shouldn't be a problem. Besides most of us will be home til tues or wed. so the packets may come still!
this year they may even have shuttles from the NB train to the hotel since last time there were A LOT of complaints about walking - although I'm not certain about that, so don't take my word. (I really couldn't relate to the complainers, so I can't say it matters to me)
If I could find cute white shoes then fine, but so far there's just ugly ones out - not many women want closed-toe white shoes. Now if sandals were allowed....

ok, so i'm now wondering if my white outfit (that i wore to my initiation) is white enough... my mom says that it's white - but i'm afraid it might be too close to off-white. urgh!
