LOL - we had a Pocahontas who used to do our ironing!
I'd go with Arielle (the other spelling is unisex), or Aurora. I like your Chessa, and Rose (since you're a horiculturist). Chessa Rose sounds nice, but Rose Chessa doesn't exactly trip off the tongue.
Just out of curiosity, have you ever seen a British show called Keeping Up Appearances? The sisters are named Hyacinth, Rose, Violet, and Daisy. Hyacinth's last name is Bucket, but she pronounces it "bouquet".

I can't believe you're adding to the "Carnation Nation" again!

Well, five of our kids will be off in college or almost married by the middle of May so we're feeling a big gap, believe it or not!
I was thinking... the good fairies called Sleeping Beauty "Rose" when she was living in the forest with them, so maybe that would work! But I remember that when our first son was born about the time that The Little Mermaid came out, his older sisters were really upset that they couldn't name him Ariel. Ditto 2 years later when they couldn't name the new baby boy Belle.
Cream, I believe you. AGDAlum and I know someone named BoPeep.
Honeychile, I've thought about Rose Chessa. I'm gonna have to do some convincing to get my husband to think about Chessa at all because he keeps saying, 'I don't want to name our child something that my stupid hippie cousin came up with!" but...I really like it!
A lot of people thought I'd want to name all my girls after flowers but only 2 have plant names and it was because we just liked the names!
The C middle names I can think of and like: Ceslie, Chaille, Caithla, Cynthia, Caroline, and Crescent (yeah, I know it's unusual but it's from a book I like).

My middle name was almost Challice or Carlin (family last names), but I ended up with another "C" name, after a favorite aunt. I think keeping up a pattern in naming, especially when you have a lot of children, is cool, even though "they" say that you shouldn't.
Where are you adopting from this time, Carnation?

Okay I must admit that I love the Disney names of Ariel, Belle and Aurora.
Carnation, I hope everything goes smoothly for you and Mr. Carnation on your quest on adopting another child. Although this is a mini hijack question, don't you have another daughter going through recruitment this fall? And if I may ask, what houses are your other daughters members of? (end of my mini-hijack of the thread I started. LOL)
I have to admit that I love the name Rowan (which is what I believe Brooke Shields named her daughter)
Honey, I'm totally with you, I like the unusual names and I'll probably end of marrying someone who wants "normal". Normal is boring.

Mini hijack! I have 2 AOIIs and 2 Chi Os. So with Pi Phi, she's a legacy to 3 but only 1 is on the campus she'll rush at.
Thanks for the good wishes on adoption--I really, really pray we'll get a sib group. Although not the 6 boys and 1 girl group I was told about today--I want majority girls!
I hear you guys about the husbands who want "normal" names--my husband and I have wrangled for weeks at a time over the more unusual girl names I like! I really wanted to name one "Sunday" and he would retch every time I brought it up.
End mini hijack!
oh, PS--Honeychile, I haven't seen the show--all I've seen on TV for the last 8 years is the news.

I was working on my genealogy the other night, and was reading through a cemetery online (yes, they exist). Sometimes, you see a little "story" played out in a way.
First was Baby Gardiner, infant of James & Cindarella Stoner Gardiner, died April 21, 1820 (I'm guessing at the year).
Then was Cindarella Stoner Gardiner, died May 10, 1820. (eta: she was 21 years old.)
Then was James Gardiner, died November something, 1870.
Then was Beauty Stoner Gardiner, died January, 1875.
So, obviously, the Stoners named at least two of their daughters Cindarella and Beauty!
And you thought naming your child something unusual was "new"!

I love my mother's dog, Buffy, so much, I've been considering getting a bichon of my own. I've been saying that I'd name it Muffy, Fluffy or Duffy - or Rocky.
Rocky would be short for "Rocket Scientist". We say that my mother had a choice between cute and smart, and Buffy is the cutest dog on four paws!
BTW, when I was an advisor, most of the chapter was named either Heather or Amy - fairly easy to get everyone's attention quickly! But the twins were Aimee & Angie, which cracked me up - can you tell they were born in the late 1970's?!

I forgot to put my baby names if we are ever blessed with little bundles of joy. My first daughter will be named after my mother. I am the oldest and am named after my maternal grandmother. My first son will share a name with my fiance his father. I would like a Junior.
My fiance likes trendy names like Madison and Morgan, but I don't.
Oh yeah, last I heard Tinkerbell is an attorney. Her parents let her older sister, who was only 2 at the time, name her. I also knew a Cinnamon.

That's because you and I were in college at the same time and all the Kathys and Sues were Pi Phis at Auburn then!

Belle, Carnation, when I was a pledge, of course we had to memorize every sister's name. We had eight Mary Something's (my favorite was Merrilee), and ten Kathy/Cathy/Kathie's!
This is why I like unusual names!

I LOVE this thread!
OK, so I know this family who's children's names are Bambi, Heidi, and I can't remember the other one. Apparently, they REALLY loved the storybook characters. I also went to HS with girls named Lovely and Unique. I could write a whole page on weird names...maybe we should start a thread for that!
BACK ON TOPIC
Girl favorites:
Lilly/Lillian (too popular now though)
Maggie
Molly
Imogene (though it's too old fashioned I think)
Boy favorites:
Brett
Nolan
Owen (the hubby's favorite)
