NRA

I am scheduled to take the FIRST Steps Pistol class on the 19th of this month. I can hardly wait.

For those in Northern VA, the cost is $75 and the instructor is Mike Wilson located on S. Reynolds St. Anyway, if you want more info here is the website:

http://users.rcn.com/sybaris/

This is where I am going to take my lesson. Its only one Saturday and its two parts. Classroom and range. Pretty good deal.

After you obtain a certificate of completion, then go to the local police department (APD) on Mill Rd and they will help you from there.

Just wanted to help. Happy shooting and be careful! Did I mention I was really excited!

Ok, this post is hilarious!

But I have a question for all of the folk getting trained in busting a cap in somebody's behind. LOL
Question: What do you say when you shoot someone and the police arrive and take you to jail? What if the person dies and you don't have a self-defense defense b/c the person did not have a lethal weapon, but was only going to snatch your purse. I'm an atty but not a criminal atty so I don't know the law (and it is by state) but ya'll need to come up to speed on the law of your state as to what is self-defense when you use your "baby .22s." LOL

During Christmas shopping season I have a sweatshirt that I got especially made with a picture of me with Cinnamon....It says " Don't Let the Small Size Fool Ya!" which should serve as a warning to any shady present snatchers, purse snatchers, or snatch snatchers

I have frequent shooter miles at the shooting range so I have pretty good aim. The law here where I reside is if you are being attacked, robbed, or what have you, you are pretty much good using self defense as long as you don't shoot the attacker in the back.

A fire arm can come in handy and they are more for then busting caps....

A while ago, I came home from work and I was thinking....I gotta go use it bad....to pull in my drive way to find a Cujo (a big dog). I opened my car door and Cujo attempted to attack me. I am like I gotta go bad, so I called 911 and was like there is a Cujo in my drive attempting to attack me....the operator say Ma'am we have no officers in the vincinity...I can get someone there in 20-30 minutes . We all know 20-30 minutes for the po po is like 2-3 days...so I pulled out Cinnamon, rolled down the window and shot up in the air.....Cujo went scurring away....I got to make it to the Ladies Room just in time.

I ain't Madea's granddaughter first removed by any means

You know here in Lowsyana, anything goes. LOL Naaaaaaaaaaa.

I spoke with an officer. He informed me of my rights. If a so and so attempts to come in my place after the alarm has sounded and he has been warned...POP! POP!

If after I have locked my place and am on my way to my car and so and so wants to do something after being warned...POP! POP!

If a so and so attempts to car jack me (and I don't have time to reach for my PIECE)...he can have the car!

Naw!!

I am afraid to buy a gun. I done already almost half killed an ex-boyfriend with my bare hands. So I know if I had a gun he and a whole lot of other people would be dead. I would be doing serious time and yall would have never had the pleasure of knowing me.

You say it was a mistake of fact. "I THOUGHT he had a gun". Get a good criminal attorney and keep it moving.

Please never shoot a gun in the air. If you are ever in this situation again just shoot the dog or aim at a solid wall. Just where do you think that bullet goes after you shot it in the air ?

Actually when Officer Friendly showed up and I had told him the procedure I took, he said that is the same thing he would have done Having a gun and having the proper education on how to handle it goes a long way

Yeah....

...the 19th. Its a Saturday I know, but I can get it out the way in one day! They also have classes available during the week (evenings), but it will be broken down into 2 classes.

I had to talk it over with Granny to let her know there will be another gun in the house and that it will be mine.

She was okay with it, so off I went. I already filled out my forms and will be mailing my registration today along with a money order. $75 is some money, but I think it will be worth it in the end. Oh, and there is a charge for getting your permit ($50 in VA, and it may vary in other states), but the permit is good for 5 yrs.

Just a little more information as I take my journey to guns and ammo land. I'm a little frightened, but it would be a lot worse if something were to happen and I wasn't packin'. So, take your time AKA2D, its a tough decision to make.

What I was taught to say at the NRA Personal Protection course (when the police showed up) was. "Oh, Officer! I'm so glad to see you! I thought the SOB was going to kill me!!"

Ok, here goes. DISCLAIMER: This is not legal advice, it is for the sole purpose of entertainment... LOL, ok, so I've been working at the firm a little too long already. LOL

The general criminal law says that you can only use the defense of self-defense when you are taking measures that are reasonably comparable to the measures taken against you or that someone is approaching you with (excuse the preposition at the end, it's late). Therefore, if someone is coming at you with a stick, you can't shoot them (use a deadly weapon) and shout self-defense. If the person has a gun or other deadly weapon (in some cases, a bat is considered a deadly weapon I think, if my memory serves me right) then you are permitted to use deadly force (i.e. fire a gun) to defend yourself. I think that you can also use it if someone comes into your home - but once they run out the front door, forget about it if you shoot them on the front lawn while they are running away. I don't know about self-defense if someone is coming at your with their bare hands. Any of my lawschool sorors taking criminal law read anything on that lately? I know that criminal law varies by state but since in most courses you study the general trends in law, it might be insightful to hear if you've heard anything. I know Soror SKEE wants to scream mistake of fact.
