I'm kind of nervous at the Big XII's bowl schedule. It seems the teams are spread fairly thin:
OU v. USC -- neither favored heavily
Tx v. Michigan -- I'm going to heavily favor Texas
TxTech v. Cal -- HEAVILY favoring Cal here
OSU v. tOSU -- have to give the edge to tOSU with the way they're doing at this point in the season.
A&M v. Tennessee -- I give a slight edge to A&M
Iowa State v. Miami (OH) -- I'm going to give a slight edge to Miami. I just don't think ISU is that good.
Colorado v. UTEP -- Going to heavily favor Colorado to come out and not suck this time.
7 bowl games though.. that's not bad at all

So, seriously, what are people down there saying about Timmy Chang's place in the NFL Draft? I realize he has several passing records, which is great, but he also has the career record for INTs. Also remember that June Jones (former Charger coach, hahaha) does Run & Shoot, so that's one big reason he has so many passing yards.
I hope Timmy goes the same route as Dat Nguyen and turns some heads, but he seems like an Islander version of Andre Ware, without the Heisman and no chance of being the #1 overall draft pick.

Honestly Stan, they talk, but I don't pay attention. I think he will get drafted, maybe not in the early rounds, but he'll eventually go somewhere. The INT record may fall, but I don't see anyone taking that passing record away from him. He's at 16,667 right now, and you can probably add a good 300 or 400 more yards on Christmas Day.
June Jones is GOD in Hawaii.

There is no comparison between Dat Nguyen and Timmy Chang. Dat was the first Vietnamese player in the NFL, there have been hawaiians in the NFL before Chang.
Dat's parent's were Vietnamese who escaped on a boat during the fall of Saigon. He started at middle linebacker in probably the toughest conference in the country for 4 years. He set the A&M career tackles record. Pretty good for playing at "Linebacker U".
He also won the Maxwell DPOY award along with the Chuck Bednarik award. He won a Big XII championship in 1998.
Timmy Chang is the next Ty Detmer.

As far I remember, Dallas took him LATE, almost as a sympathy pick, and he happened to work out. That's what I mean in comparison to Chang. I know he's not going to get the same pub as the other QBs coming out this yr, but he may just get swiped by some NFL team willing to take a roster spot chance with him and actually do well in the pros.

While it's great for Hawaii, the University of Akron's football team feels they got shafted because of the Rainbow Warriors's win over Michigan State Late Saturday night, which is What I just find out Reading yesterday's newspaper.
it would be nice if both Hawaii and Akron play in the same bowl game. I know it would be a great game to watch.

The 3rd round is not LATE and he certainly wasn't a sympathy pick. He may have been undersized, but there are plenty of success stories of undersized linebackers succeeding in the NFL. Mike Singletary is a prime example. Not saying Dat has reached Singletary's level of production, but he wasn't a stretch.
The draft is LITTERED with quarterbacks that performed in pass-happy offenses in college(run and shoot, spread O's) etc that were wasted picks in the NFL.
Ryan Leaf, Kliff Kingsbury, Ty Detmer, Andre Ware, David Klingler, Josh Heupel, etc.

Well, at least we agree on something....except you think he's the next Ty Detmer and I think he's the next Andre Ware.

Psst. The football team is not the Rainbow Warriors. It's just the Warriors!
It sucks for any team to get shafted, but the Hawai`i Bowl was created pretty much for Hawaii. In 2001 we had a kick ass season (ironically that was the season Tim fucked up his wrist), massacred BYU in front of a national audience, and STILL didn't get invited to ANY bowl games. The Hawai`i Bowl automatically invites the Warriors as long as they have a winning season. It doesn't sound fair, but that's the way it is, unfortunately.
So too bad for Akron, I guess.

Mr. ISUKappa and I are making the drive (14-16 hours, depending on who's driving) to Shreveport for the bowl game. Win or lose, I love my Cyclones.

Before BYU left the WAC for the MWC, the BYU vs. Hawai`i game was the biggest rivalry game every year. When Ty Detmer won the Heisman, he was in Hawai`i on that day. And what happened? We kicked their ass then too.
But anyway, this was an article from that 2001 game, we won 72-45 and ended BYU's hope for an undefeated season.
