How dare them! On the video before the President came out, they talked about 9/11. I mean we should not forget that tragic day and there are some people that admired the work of the President after 9/11, but the video is a slap in the face to most of the people who lost family members and friends.

Actually these responses are pretty easy........
If Bush has a spine of Tempered Steel, why did he run and hide in Nebraska (after reading to elementary schoolers) on 9/11.
SOP in any major attack is to protect the leadership so they CAN continue to lead. Did you want Bush to go straight to NYC or DC and possibly get killed? No wait, I think I know the answer to that.... Dont pretend to know what I am thinking. And thats a pretty damn bold-ass statement to assume that just becasue I dont plan on voting for Bush means I want him dead (hmm, and people call Republicans extremists, I just dont know why...). Bush was the Governor of my state, remember? I worked on his 1994 campaign. I have met him. (provide me an email addy and I'll send you the pict.) Hes a great guy. I like him. Just not as president. As for the statement above. He could have showed much more leadership that day. I understand saftey protocols, but it will go down in history looking liek he ran.
If hes such a fab-o commander-in-chief, where's Osama? Seriously, how hard is it to catch a 6'6" arab on dyalasis?
Very, when you are not as familiar w/ the terrain as people who have lived there for 20 years and there are several tribes protecting him, usually w/ "playing possum" techniques to sneak people and supplies around. The other issue is that the USA tries to prevent collateral damage, and those mofos know it. When you're disguising your troops as civilians, or hiding arms in places of worship, you're creating a no-win situation for the other guy - and they know it. Agreed, but thats not how they let him slip away. Many of the generals who were in charge of the operation in Afghanistan now openly admidt that their mistakes let Osama slip away into Pakistan. Specifically, to limit US casaulties, they let the Afghan Northern Alliance be the first into Kabul, The NA wasnt specifically interested in OBL. They were going after the leaders of the Taliband. And half-heartedly at that. In this window, OBL paid Mosque leaders in the border area for protection and not so quietly (convoys of 300- 600 vehicles) slipped into Pakistan. Military leaders now acknowledge that they should have secured the border areas first to seal them.
War on Terror? GWB has taken a sympathetic world and turned it against us.
Sympathetic in word only, never in deed. No big loss, IMHO. It is a big loss. History has proven time and again that a policy of American isolationism has negative consequences for the US. Sympathetic in word only? Think back to your US History class from college (Pre-Civil War). Remember that had it not been for the French (being sympathetic and supportive and all) we'd still be Brittish subjects.
The republicans arent partisan? Come on! Two words: Tom Delay.
So what? At least the Republican party is willing to tolerate discussion of hot-button special interests right on the convention floor. The Democrats censor any dissenters from their party line. IMHO, that's much worse. So what? What is that? The third grade playground debate strategy? You can do better than that. And yeah, hot button issues? Remind me, when was the debate on supporting/not supporting gay marrage scheduled for? I guess I missed that. Hell, I am impressed they have now allowed pro-choice Republicans to at least speak from the podium.
>>Who do I trust to deal with terror? GWB if we want more. Hes not catching the terrorists, he's breeding new ones.
>>Only terrorists breed more terror. It's a choice and an organized effort. If GWB was the only one at fault, why did the terrorists kidnap FRENCH journalists??? You'd think the French would be their buddies.
>>NO, using YOUR flawed logic, YOU'D be the only one thinking the French were their buddies (because they didnt go to war with us). You are locked in that whole 'youre with us or against us' simplistic logic. Actually, France isnt a popular place with Islamic Millitants right now, especially with the recent action of the French Government banning the wearing of traditional islamic wear in public schools.
>>Glad to see that Dick Cheney could come out of his 'fradey hole' long enough to give his speech.
>>Just because someone doesn't go out and mug for cameras every other hour doesn't mean he's hiding. Sometimes people do their jobs without calling a press conference. I'll keel over if the "Internet Generation" ever understands this topic.
>>Baby, I'm a 30 year old grown-ass man. I am not a part of the 'internet-generation' (I was 21 when they first created a graphical interface for www addresses). But youre right. That last one was just a cheap shot at Cheney. I dont like him much. I think he's a bully.
Whatever

Thanks for reminding me why I don't get involved often w/ political discussions here. I don't care how passionate you get, but you took cheap shots at ME that were uncalled for. I won't argue your points because people eventually agree to disagree, but I will point out what parts of your posts were rude and make you look like a jerk:
"Bush was the Governor of my state, remember? I worked on his 1994 campaign. I have met him. (provide me an email addy and I'll send you the pict.) "
YOUR state???? If it weren't for a company relo, it would still be MY state too! You are NOT the only person who lives in Texas and definitely not the owner of it! And I worked on his campaign and met him as well. You don't corner that market either.
"So what? What is that? The third grade playground debate strategy?"
No, it is a challenge to uphold the validity of attack invoking Tom Delay.
"Remind me, when was the debate on supporting/not supporting gay marrage scheduled for? I guess I missed that."
I never said a debate was called. But the Log Cabin Republicans haven't been tossed out into the street either.
"Hell, I am impressed they have now allowed pro-choice Republicans to at least speak from the podium."
Thank you for proving the point that I made.
"Sympathetic in word only? Think back to your US History class from college (Pre-Civil War). "
The argument you could come up with is 200 years old? Not good enough, IMHO. And based on my (equally valid) opinion, these countries were not fighting for America as much as they were fighting *against* England. I think that's a big difference. That's opportunism, not true alliance or commitment.
"You are locked in that whole 'youre with us or against us' simplistic logic. "
Didn't you just tell me a second ago not to tell you how you think? Ditto here.
"Baby, I'm a 30 year old grown-ass man. "
Get something straight. I am NOT your "Baby". You may be a "30 year old grown-ass man" but when you flare up like you did in this post, it means NOTHING to this 35-year-old grown-ass woman.
And you think dedicated Republicans are extremists? Physician, heal thyself. I answered your arguments w/ valid opinions and answers, and you threw a tantrum w/ degrading comments. Take a chill pill.

I've loved the Convention this week. If I had someone to go with I would have gone down to the MSG area and checked out the crowds but that didn't work out. The 9/11 & after footage gave me chills....
Why didn't the major networks cover it like they did the DNC??

See that's exactly how I feel. I just don't get it. I asked DeltAlum this and it had something to do with me being in Illinois. But I don't get why NYC wouldn't.
Hey is Kaitey Tong still on tv with Mr. G?

You should have been here we could have gone to a bar nearby and watched it all unfold....
She's on the WB network (WPIX Channel 11) and I dunno about him...maybe he's still at WCBS. I'll see if I can find out on the station website. edited to add they are both on 11 now...
Do you remember Roz Abrahams from WABC? She's on WCBS now!

I think it all depends on your state and if it is a democrat or republican stronghold. Here I everytime i flipped the channel I saw convention coverage. I watched Arnold, the Bush twins, and Miller. I think only the Bush twins made a positive impact. Make the Bush family seem more "normal".

Roz was the Black chick right? I liked Mr. G. I thought UPN was the most awful network ever. I mean people talk about Fox...wait till they see UPN. Geez. Fox always has the hottest girls on during the noontime news show...i think one hosted the third wheel or some dating show on top of that.
My colleagues brought me back pins and tshirts and posters. I've watched the speeches and stuff but I really wish I could have seen it. I have a program actually and it looks very very cool. I hear the funding for this year was through the roof. The only problem was the security was so high that you had to get on special lists for every event.

Scroll up I edited my post with info about Mr.G & Kaitey.
Didn't Mr. G have a son named Storm who also did weather?? Or am I crazy?
I saw some delegates outside the 4Seasons Tuesday night. They looked very spiffy!

Storm was the gay blonde man on ABC7. He was straight out of a movie or something. I've never seen anything like that before. He was impeccably dressed and smiled even when he talked about hurricanes and stuff. He was Mr. G's son?
Some days I miss NY so so much
