Thank you for sharing your recruitment process with us!! I love the nicknames you've chosen. These ones won't make me hungry like some of the others have done!
Enjoy yourself! I wish I had had the resources of this site back when I rushed... lo, before the Internet was around. I hope that you find the perfect fit for you!

Only a week until recruitment starts! I'm so excited. I have my application and fee turned in so all I can do now is wait for the orientation night.

Round I
Yay, I've finally gotten to start recruitment!
Gingham was first. These girls are stereotypically "stuck up," but I definitely think I had some of the best conversations with them. I connected with a few girls and they were so sweet. They got really excited when they found out I live in Kentucky (since most people at my school are from the East Coast) so it was a great icebreaker.
Plaid was so energetic. They were bouncing up and down doing their cheers and just general craziness. I had a gym class with the President so when I shook her hand she talked about how she knew me, which was nice. I met some really great girls here too! I talked to one girl for almost ten minutes (as a guesstimate) and she was great. We definitely had a lot of things in common so that was nice.
Stripes was next. I got paired with one of my good friends so it was nice to be able to talk to her again. I pretty much learned the entire history and such of the sorority, which was great. I definitely love all of the girls I met, but if I had to cut one already, I think stripes would be it. I'm keeping an open mind for the next round though!
Polka Dots was my final party. It was their last party as well and my group could tell that they were kind of dragging and tired (and who could blame them!). They were still great girls and I connected with a few of them really well, but not as much as I would have liked to with my hostess. She seemed kind of distant. It was a good experience and next round they're our first house so hopefully I'll get to see polka dots in their element. Plus I love their philanthropy so it should be a great day.
I'm definitely excited to go back (in reverse order) for philanthropy night. It won't be until Tuesday though!
Later I came back to my room, after being so happy and excited about meeting so many great girls, to a couple messages about people being disappointed that I'm rushing or telling me I don't have time to do it. It's crazy having to defend greek life before I've even become greek! I'm definitely enjoying this experience and am so glad that I decided to rush.
Edited to fix my bold tags.

Ignore the messages. You have to do what is right for YOU. I remember when I first decided to go through rush, my good friend gave me all the reasons NOT to go through rush. The sterotypes. She was a couple years ahead of me so she "knew" more about college life than I did as I was just starting my freshman year. 90% of the reasons she gave me for not going through were false-- i.e. you can only date fraternity guys, they do not allow you to date anyone outside the greek system. I am so happy that I ignored everyone else and did what I wanted. I have been a member of KD forever, am currently the President of my AA.
Have a good time, find our own niche, and if you go Greek, congratulations finding a home, if you don't go Greek, you had the opportunity to meet some really nice gals you might otherwise have never met.

Where have I been?
I didn't know you were from Kentucky.. where?
Also good luck... have fun... don't worry about what others say who don't know the "real" side to Greek life. Enjoy the week!

After having sororities songs stuck in my head and still getting annoying IMs about why I shouldn't rush, I have survived Philanthropy Night. And not just that, I had a lot of fun!
Polka Dots: I have a lot of friends in polka dots, but I've never actually talked to any of them at the rush parties. It's been good getting to know the other sisters, but my hostesses have been quiet and softspoken so I didn't feel as comfortable at the house as I was hoping. Tonight also felt a lot like a meet and greet since we only did the philanthropy project for five minutes and talked to girls for the rest of the time. The girls are still wonderful though so I'm hoping to go back for invites to try to get a better feeling of the sorority.
Stripes had the craziest game to play during the night, which helped to break up the monotony that I felt at polka dots. My hostess was wonderful and I had a great time. Even though I had a wonderful time at stripes, I don't think it is the best match for me. That said, if I am invited back to stripes, I will go back to confirm or de-confirm (is that a word?) my feeling.
Plaid is crazy and cheers so loud. The girls are really sweet though. I had a better time at meet and greet than I did tonight, but I still loved my time at plaid so I'm keeping them in my top two!
Gingham is nice, but I just don't quite click with the girls. If I am invited back to all four sororities, I will have to drop one and I think gingham will be the one I drop. I adore some of the girls in gingham, but I just don't feel as comfortable there as I do at the other three houses.
I find out which ones I'm invited back to tomorrow night. Cross your fingers for polka dots and plaid!
