Who? The Cannons or Hacksaw?

I know Rome questioned the TIMING of the decision but not the motive...and I dunno how Tony and Andre felt about it, but I'm pretty sure Mr. Bruno is also glad they took Donovan over Ricky.

Actually, it's Billy Ray Smith (who I like) and Scotty Kaplan (who gets on my last nerve) on the Mighty 1090 who were bringing up the Ricky loves chronic issue.

Romey's points about the timing were excellent. If Ricky had said he was retiring earlier, the Dolphins could have possibly been an Eddie George sweepstakes player.

That was a major beef of mine too - he knew Eddie was on the market, he could have really thrown the Dolphins a bone and given them a chance to sign him by making his decision earlier.

He didn't do it last minute though, so now they can see if Minor is the answer at RB. Chambers is going to have to have a big year this year though, as is Boston.

I wonder if this season the Eagles would finally stop being the NFC's bridesmaids and play in their first Superbowl in nearly 24 years.

Also, the Patriots are looking to get their 3rd Superbowl championship in 4 years.

A Patriots/Eagles Superbowl would be a very interesting match.

My beloved Bears made a big trade the other day...they sent Marty Booker and a third-round pick next year to the Dolphins for Adewale Ogunleye. I like this trade. Sure, I like Marty Booker and I will miss him, but you have to give up something if you want to get something. It's also been pointed out on the Score that it is easier to find a good wide receiver than it is to find a good pass rushing defensive end...not to mention a pass rushing STUD like Ogunleye.

David Boston: Will find a way to injure himself, if he hasn't already. A 230 lb. WR, c'mon now...you're 6'2".

Chambers: Definitely talented and has a bright future but when you don't have that Ricky running game...it's going to make it tough to have a good season.

Eddie George: Can you say burnout? I had to put up with watching Eddie average 1 and 2 yards a carry the past few years. I'm glad he's out.

Some things I'm looking out for:

Portis: Will he perform as he did in Denver?
Denver: So many talented RB's, who will start? Will they have another pair of 1000 yard rushers?
Eli: Looked good against a tough Carolina defense...will he be as good/better than his bro?
Titans: Chris Brown can't do worse than what George did the past few years, will he step up?
Garcia: Can he turn the Browns around?
Rudi: Bunguls new star?
Raiders: Will Gannon return to Pro-Bowl form?
49ers: Nuff said
Ravens: Awesome defense, will the 2003's worst passing offense improve?

Hate to break it to you, Boston's out for the year.

I'm in a buddy's league, and ended up getting a decent team. I've got McNair and McNabb as quarterbacks, Marvin Harrison and Tony Gonzalez. Not too bad at all.

The Sporting News made what, to me, is a bizarre prediction:

Denver Broncos defeat Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

Of course I can't get used to Seattle not being in the AFC West.

(To make that prediction, they must see something in Jack Plummer that I don't, but I'll be happy if they're right)

Very bizarre. Can anyone outside of Seattle name one defensive Seahawk player? No? Okay. In other news, Philly's D was the key to all those playoff appearances, and losing Vincent wouldnt make up for getting two TOs. Vinny looked sharp last night and Id pick Dallas (begrudgingly) to take the NFC. Also, Go Redskins.

The Chargers should be able to name quite a few of them after last Friday's game......They put SD's rookie QB on his butt a few times.

And actually a few of them are Pro Bowlers.

And just an FYI Delt, it's JAKE Plummer.......

I hope they could. Rivers had been to all of five practices before being tossed out there; probably didnt know where the holes in the pocket were. And I may be wrong, but I think Seattles only defensive Pro Bowler got picked up by Washington in the offseason, Shawn Springs.

ETA: Chris Brown looked good last night, too.
