I thought of more!
--For my first three years, my chapter had only 6 or 7 members. We typically only had MIT classes of about 3 or 4. I worked my butt off to make us grow, and when we initiated *11* this year--bringing us to about 20 actives--I was so proud!
--Seeing one of my best friends in the world get initiated
--Every single time I sing the Chorale. The best ever was at Convention...1000 SAIs all singing the Chorale, hand in hand..that was really something!
--We have a tradition where, on the night of Initiation, the actives elect a Best Member-in-Training, and the MITs elect a Best Member...however, to make it fair, the VP Membership (pledge trainer) CANNOT be elected since they are the one who is with the MITs the most. Well on Initiation, the MITs announced the winner but then mentioned that they wanted me to be their honorary Best Member.
--In a recent e-mail I got from the moderator of our national Listserv, she said: I have truly enjoyed your postings on the listserv, as I'm sure many others have as well. I
think your chapter is very lucky to have you as their President. Your energy and enthusiasm are infectious and they will be better members
because of it!" I was so flattered.

I felt REALLY proud to be in Alpha Phi Omega when...
-Night of Petitioning ritual, sitting down elated and talking to the Section Chair and alums
-Regionals... feeling the brotherhood and knowing I made a good choice (I was still a petitioning member)
-Receiving invites from other chapters to visit
-Being Chartering Co-chair and realizing the outcome of the ceremony was on me
-Receiving my first jersey (which I paid for) and not letting it down for more than 15 minutes that night, except for the initiation
-Sectionals, staying with the Embry-Riddle chapter as they helped me through personal problems going on in my life (nothing funnier than a bunch of male engineers trying to help)
-Election night and being voted in as the next President of my chapter
There is bound to be more...

I was proud to be a DPhiE when:
-I received my bid and realized that the Panhel secretary who I had befriended during rush was a DPhiE and was also going to be my pledge mom
-when there was an anthrax scare on Pitt's campus about a week after 9/11 and they evacuated the dorms and made us all run down the blocked off streets to get away from the middle of campus and I ran into a few sisters and they immediately told me I could stay in their apartment for the night if I wanted to (and I had only signed my bid about 2 days earlier...I couldn't even remember their names but they were there for me anyway!)
-when my roommate who joined (and later quit) a different sorority would repeatedly say "I should have just joined Delta Phi Epsilon with you!"
-when I got my Big & realized that I had been her #1 pick for a little since Pref night as she had been mine too! (I later found a thread about Big/Littles on GC and saw posts she made about being so excited to get me as a Little!)
-after I came back to school for my sophomore year and for the first time met sisters who had been abroad the previous year and found out that they were IMMEDIATELY my best friends and I could automatically talk to them about anything
-when we won Most Improved Chapter, Best Recruitment, New Member Educator of the Year, and Best Sorority President for the Spring 2003 Cathedral Awards
-when we initiated the first Winter NM class in 2002, no one else on our campus had done that
-when my twin was the best VPP ever and almost single-handedly put together our first annual and very successful Deepher Dude pageant
-when I got my wonderful little Rayna and found out that she ranked me #1!
-when Lindsay, who had been an amazing President for 2 years, was elected Panhellenic President! I have never been more proud of anyone!
And so many more, but I ran out of time!

I got a new one.
I felt really proud to be a Sigma Kappa when I was at the Dodger Game last week and some strange guys came up to me and my boyfriend to tell me that they LOVE the ladies of SK! They were Sigma Pi's and one guy pulled out his keychain that had our letters on it! I was excited and happy!
I felt really proud when after that incident, on the way back to our seats, my boyfriend told me that he never really cared one way or the other about me joining a sorority but he never really understood what it was all about. After seeing the guys talk to me, it finally hit him that it's not about parties and wild times. These are people that may not know me personally but b/c we all stand together for Greek Life, they just know that I am a part of something special!
I felt really proud too when that same night, a group of Sig Eps lauded the praises of SK to me in the parking lot making my boyfriend say he was a lucky guy to have found someone like me that can make men break out into song at the parking lot of Dodger Stadium!
I am a lucky gal!

CASIGKAP ,
That was a great example of Greek Life, it was also great that your boyfriend "FINALLY" figured out what it really is all about . WAY TO GO
Finally, a boyfriend that was able to see through all the stereotypes and realize that the reason why his girlfriend joined a sisterhood was because of the sister/brotherhood that makes us all united as Greeks and not the parties or formals.
You have a great boyfriend from what I read .

Thanks! He used to tease me quite a bit about being a sorority girl b/c the only point of reference he had was Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde. I think it blew him away that not all the ladies are like her and the guys are definitely NOT worshippers of the Animal House mentality. They are men who like their lady counterparts, belong to a sisterhood/brotherhood. He's a great guy!

I felt proud to be an Alpha Xi:
*When I pledged.
*When I got my big sis.
*When I was initiated.
*When I got my badge, even though it was the next semester since nationals lost our paperwork 3 times.
*When I was able to tell girls during recruitment all the wonderful things that makes Alpha Xi what she is and show them some of our beautiful insignia, like _my_ crown pearl Quill.
*When we got our list back of girls that matched our bid lists this last year, even though it was only about half of quota, and we went out and cheered so loud we were heard above the other 15 sororities on campus.
*When our parents came down for Parent's Weekend and I was able to pin my mom with our Mother's Pin.
I also felt proud to be a member of the AU Panhellenic system:
*When the Greek system at AU raised over $50,000 for the Spann Endowment, which gives scholarships to the children of soldiers killed in the line of duty.
*When another sorority's president knows she can email the others and ask them to ask their sisters to donate blood for one of her own.

I'm most proud to be a D Phi E when:
- I see my own chapter, that had been on the brink for so long, now being successful, thriving and viable. It brought me to tears when they won the most improved recruitment program award at Convention. They are my home, and the reason I am a D Phi E today, and no matter what, I will always be there for them.
- Being a colony advisor and watching new women, who have only been new members for a short time, and just knowing that they get it...they understand and live our values and principles. Again, brought to tears when they won 5 colony/new chapter awards at Convention, and cried again, when I was named one of the colony advisors of the biennium, along with my 2 co-advisors.
- Listening to our outgoing international president at any point in time since I've known her. She is amazing!!
- Getting our charter for our new Delaware Valley Alumnae Association!
- Meeting the women of our Alpha Gamma Chapter and seeing their dedication to our sorority.
I could go on and on...but let's just say it's GREAT to be a D Phi E and setting the standard for sisterhood!

The moments that make me proud to be an Alpha Delta Pi (since I'm always proud of my sorority) are:
* When I opened my bid card and saw that I was "going home"
* When we received our first diamond four-point chapter award, only two years after we received our charter
* When we received our second diamond four-point chapter award the very next year
* When I walked into my room that I was sharing with a chapter sister in Cambridge my semester overseas, and we found the box of supplies and note that was left by a fellow chapter sister who had studied there the semester before us
* When our chapter was the leaders of a movement to not participate in a fraternity's philanthropy unless they changed their theme to one that did not refer to alcohol in any subtle or overt manner
* When I got to participate in a long-distance baby shower for a chapter sister
* Anytime I wear my letters and/or lavalier and someone asks me about them
* When I read the warm words a woman who went to my school had to say about my chapter
* When fellow GC sisters came up with original ideas such as Violet & Pearl sisters, Virtual Violets, etc
* Everytime I see my letters in sisters' signatures, read one of their posts, or see one of them online

I felt really proud to be a Sigma Kappa when...
Our chapter won a BUNCH of awards at Order of Omega...
When other greeks come to OUR events and compliment us...
And proud to be a GREEK when the greek community at my school raised $30,000 for the american cancer society (we're a small school and that number is AMAZING - HIGHEST EVER at our school)

Another one:
My little from APO got married (to another APO brother!) last month. I was one of her bridesmaids. Many other people in the wedding party and several guests were also APO brothers...altogether there were brothers from 7 chapters at the wedding! At the end of the reception, after the last song was played...we all got in a circle and sang the Toast Song. It was the only way we could have ended the night.
