I agree. Long Island is not bad. I like going during the week though when not as many little bratty monsters are there LOL. The absolute worst beach in NYC has to be City Island though. Ugh. I like Puerto Rico though for beaches, especially the Carribean side.

I thought "noseeums" was strictly a southern term!

Makena is tight.
my dad told me there aint no better beaches than Vietnam beaches or thailand or he philipines. Fukkit (or however you spell it) is supposedly relaly really nice.
the best beach in the OC is HANDS DOWN...SALT CREEK...or Strands. Newport can suck a left nut. Huntington beach sucks too, even though i am from there. only good thing about newport or HB is that it has hot chicks and lots of stuff to do.
Northern california is sweet too. Santa Cruz and mavericks...CRAZY.
Mission Beach the other one that starts with a C down in san diego is sweet.
i dated a girl from the gulf coast of Mississippi. your beaches aint got shit on cali.

I've seen pix from my mom from beaches in the Philippines and the further you are away from Metro Manila, the more beautiful the beaches are.
I'm not a big fan of Santa Cruz, but Maverick's. I vow to surf there at least once before I die.

It would be about a 2.5 hour drive from Miami. The beaches there aren't crowded since they're mostly for the people that own vacation homes there (but it's still a public beach). There are real surfing waves there which is really hard to find in Florida. The sand isn't all pebbles and the water is bright blue...it looks like the water you'd see in the Caribbean.
I forgot to add a beach to my list. Abroad, my favorite beach would be any beach on the island of St. Maarten. The water is bright blue and it's warm. The sand is like powder. The beach is absolutely gorgeous because it's on a tropical island but there are these beautiful green hills that run along the beach.

Depends on which Key. The "beaches" at Key West are a small strip of land with a bunch of pebbles that will stab your feet if you walk without shoes. If you're looking for a party atmosphere rather than the beach itself, Key West would be better than Hutchinson Island. If you want the more laidback and quiet atmosphere, Hutchinson Island is great!

Waimea Bay on Oahu is gorgeous, I loved snorkeling there.
I have a new appreciation for the Oregon coast. It is beautiful!! I describe it as a mix of California and Washington beaches. It is sandy and neverending and you can't tell you're in Oregon, until you look around and see the towering evergreens and hills in the distance! It is something to behold.
Apparently, the Oregon coast has quite a surf culture. You really have to go all out in the equipment department to surf (wetsuit, booties, hood) cuz the water is FREEZING!!!

Did you have the unfornate experience of visiting Atlantic City/Brigantine?? The Brigantine lifeguards have a huge greenhead fly on their boat as a mascot (for use in competetions only-the town got pretty mad about it). Occasionally, you'll get some in LBI/Sea Isle, but thats only when the wind is blowing the right (or should I say, wrong) way. We have what we call the "Saving Private Ryan Theory." You need to kill as many greenheads as possible or else the same one will come back and bite you later.
I'm allergic to greenheads. Let me tell ya, you think them biting is bad? You should have seen my the day after I did research at Brigantine. My entire body was swollen; My mom wanted to take me to the ER cause I was all swollen and the bites were turning purple. I took alot of antihistimines and slept through the next 5 days.

I really liked Negril's 7-mile beach...
Great white sand, hot sun, everything within drunken walking distance...
