Kelly,
I gave up sugar soda a loooong time ago, when I was about 13 years old (except for the occasional root beer or cream soda, which l still love :-). I drank only juice, milk and water until I discovered diet soda at about 16. I hated diet coke at the time, so I had to find something else to like. My favorites are Diet Dr. Pepper (or DDP), A&W Diet Cream Soda, and any diet friut soda like Fresca (there's another one and I can't think of the brand name, it's like Rite Cola or something. It comes in this delicious kiwi strawberry flavor). Other non caloric drinks that are good for flavor are crystal light, or Fruit Water which is made by the people who make SmartWater. It isn't carbonated, but it comes in light, refreshing flavors. You can get it a Whole Foods.
I hope that helps you find a diet soda you like. If you don't, it's no harm. There was a recent study done that saw a decrease in bone mass of women who drank diet soda on a regular baisis.

Not just diet soda, but any. The carbonic acid and the phosphorus depletes calcium deposits in your bones. It's better off to stay away from bubbly stuff (except champagne!!) if you're concerned w/ this.

This is totally true. Stay away from soda, sugar or sugar-free, caffeine or caffeine-free doesn't matter! Drink lots of water! Even some flavored waters can provide carbs for a snack instead of actual food!

my favs:

crystal light (comes in raspberry ice, etc... heavenly!)
diet snapple
on occassion i have the diet rite and diet hanson's sodas. they make really good ginger ale.

I have stayed away from cokes/pepsis for a while. I only order them if there is nothing else on the menu and if i want more than water.

the only prob i have is where you put down what you ate and what all the nutritional values are.

in my journal, i i'll be putting down what i ate through the day and what exercises i've done. does shopping count??? hehe

i've been doing pull ups and i'm able to do one by myself and if my bf helps, i can do 3. he said that's impressive that i can do one, cause not many girls can do em i'm gonna start going to the gym, but have been doing bench presses here at home. i have a LOT to lose i'm not gonna get to my goal by my b-day though

You don't have to put the nutritional values if you can find it in the (really large) list of generic foods!

my problem with the generic food list is that i eat a lot of organic food and the fat/calorie counts are different from normal food. so i have to edit a lot of stuff. it's fine... just makes you pay attention to what you eat more.

Okay, I've already slacked off on entering in my foods. First of all, it takes me forever to find exactly what it was I ate (I hate just guesstimating), and a lot of the times I haven't been able to find it. I don't know the nutritional value of a lot of what I eat, so I feel I've had to skip out on making entries. Second of all, I find (and it's only been 4 days!) that it's a hassle to go to the site and try to remember what all I've eaten that day, b/c I don't have time to do it the second I'm finished eating.

A little off topic....but I was wondering if any of you know whether or not the pill makes a chick gain weight? My girl has just switched over from the patch to the pill and I'm wondering if the fact that she went from a size 3 to a 5 has anything to do with her starting to take the pill. I thought she was just either starting to get fat or she got pregnant and didnt know it. I dont want to say anything to her because she's brought it up on her own about going up a couple of sizes....but do you think the pill could be causing some weight gain?

It's very possible...although there haven't been any conclusive studies that prove this theory. I know some women gain weight when going off the pill...but I'm sure w/ all those extra hormones floating around her body it's had some sort of effect.
