If you've never been to South Carolina, then you wouldn't know. The palmetto is super cool; people wear it on their cars, their belts, their flipflops, their T-shirts. It's NOT just a tourist thing, and it's wonderful

When iw as in college early 90s i went to a soutehrn school and i am from so calif. Arkansas was full of izod, khaki, birks, loafers( Eastlands), oxford colored buttons downs , jeans, a lot of very preppy style clothing.

I loved it ! and i do love a southern boy with class, a drawl and well mannered too vs. from where i am from in so calif! i will take a southern classed boy any day!

It is! I love South Carolina's state flag; very cool looking.

On an unrelated note, when I first heard SC referred to as the palmetto state, I immediately thought of palmetto *bugs* (the superhero cockroaches we had when we lived in Miami that can only be killed by a nuclear blast). I was afraid to go there!

YES.

And I'd rather shoot myself in the foot twice than to date a preppy geek. I am so thankful to live in a land free from IZOD and Khakis. Barf.

Some days you talk about being wealthy and some days you talk about "where [your are] from in so calif". Victorville isn't exactly...well whatever.

I keep cracking up at everyone who mentions Izod. If I'm not mistaken the reason why the two get confused is because one had a share in the other's brand in the American markets until now - Lacoste got their name back and that's why there are more lacoste stores in the US.

And, for the record, you will find Clemson, Auburn, Ole Miss, 'Bama, LSU, UGA, (insert Southern school here) students who are fifth and sixth generations. These old South families send their dollars and their children to the same schools they've all been attending forever.
Just adding a little school called William and Mary (you know, the alma mater of Thomas Jefferson etc & the birth of Phi Beta Kappa?).

Those who have no charm can't possibly understand how truly wonderful it can be!

Ahh but so many southern gals complain about southern boys on this site . . it makes you wonder.

Maybe all guys are kind of the same . . . minus the odd southern accent y'all have as typified by Charlize Therizon in the movie Bagger Vance?

Just post pics of regional preppy attire.

Girls might be able to extrapolate random clothing brands into highly visual outfits . . but most of us guys are kind of handicapped.

the north/south bickering is amusing and personally I don't care if he's got a drawl or whatever.. but any guy with class is better than a guy with attitude no matter where he is born and raised.

Lacoste rocks. Izod - not so much...

And I am not southern or northern - although if I had to pledge an allegiance, it would definitely fall below the M.D. line.
