This is a dumb question, but do your finals go from this Thursday till next Thursday? i.e. graduation isn't on the 15th, is it?

I was just wondering how they are doing all this with finals coming up - that would be enough to worry about without that decision!

honestly, it will all depend on the presentations and the women who make up the panhellenic board. I was there when Sigma Kappa colonized as well as when they were deciding on AXO coming on board. Those two orgs nailed their presentations. Everyone was really impressed with both those groups. Where as the other orgs that were also up for the colonizing process, were other very large national groups, their presentations weren't as stellar or had enough alum in the area to show support.
Maggie, i have a question for you. did you go to any of the presentations last week? then how do you know what each sorority has to offer? i just find it extrememly humorous that you're basing who you think will end up on Elon's campus based on who is more well-known, instead of who is the most qualified and willing to put in 110% (which i know is any of the three sororities here).

Graduation is on the 22nd, and exams end the 18th. So we still have awhile.

And I agree with APhi beach. You can't base your decision on what you think about the national org or have heard about other chapters. Everyone I have talked to on campus was pleasantly surprised by one group, and it was not who everyone was expecting to love so much.

I'm hoping I get an email today telling us who it is!

I am basing my opinion on the fact that I went to Elon and am still very involved in my chapter on Elon's campus. I have also held several positions in Panhellenic on Elon's campus and have previsously been invited to speak about Recruitment to Elon students even after I have graduated and been through two colonizations while attending Elon.
No, I didn't see the presentations but I have heard about all three of them from my sisters still on campus. Like Xylo said, all were surprised by one chapter in particular. I won't reveal who that was. And like I said before all statements I made were based on my opinion.

I find it humorus that people assume that they know what chapters are good for a campus, when they have never been there and don't know what the greek culture is like.

Maggie... you've been here long enough to know that expansion is a very sensitive subject and that making statements about who is more well known etc can be kinda tricky... and makes people defensive because they want their org. to do well and while you may know the campus well, you still don't know each individual org presenting well enough to make a judgement unless you have seen the presentation or are a member of the expansion team for that org. it has been discussed here and I do respect that it is your opinion and you have the right to state it but read over this thread as Shadokat said it very well and I really don't think we need to start another discussion on this. i understand that expansion is a sensitive subject. but if everyone has to walk around on egg shells and to keep their opinion to themselves, that what the point of having a forum?

i don't think i should have defend my opinions, just like i haven't asked anyone to defend why they think XYZ is better then ABC. I didn't say any chapter or org was better or worse, I simply stated that on the basis of my experience and my knowledge which I admit is limited, but maybe not as limited as some other people on this board, I feel that a certian org may be chosen.

and if anyone did read my posts in their entirety that would also realize i said that no matter what group was chosen they were sure to flurish.

And its not like I said that XYZs presentation sucked or that JKL was sooo wonderful that I know they will be chosen.

But since apparently too many people are offended by my OPINION, I will go back and change all the letters so that they are anonymous and vague....like apparently we are to be during an open discussion because it might hurt people's feelings.....

Also, I went back and checked my post- never did I say one GLO was more WELL-KNOWN- I said more well known schools than Elon....

Claws in, ladies.

Let's not stress over this, you guys. We all love our sororities, they all have something great to offer. I'm sure we'd love to extend expansion bids to all of them if we could.

Maggie is just offering her thoughts on the matter because she's familiar with the system. So is Xylochick -- and she doesn't necessarily agree. Clearly neither of them are wrong, they just have different opinions. And since their opinions (and ours) are going to have little to no effect on the expansion process, I'm not sure why anyone's getting so worked up over what they say?

Anyway, I hope we find out soon!

Thanks Sugar....
anyway, I rec'd an email from my org's advisor, she indicated that they had extended an offer to one org. but they she hasn't heard whether they have accepted or rejected the offer. I am not going to divulge who it is because of obvious politics.

I am sure Xylo and the rest of the Elon campus will find out by the end of the day, as you will all too.

funny that you assume that i have never been to Elon when in fact i was enrolled there in 2000. i left and tranferred later on. although i did not rush at Elon, i was a student there and i did know what went on. so i do know what the greek system is like and yes maybe you do know what's "better" for that campus, but i think that any of the three have the same chance to expand.

WOW!
they have already chosen the org....let it go....maybe they chose yours, maybe they didn't.....

if anyone has a problem with me, feel free to pm me directly. as far as i am concerned the decision has already been made. whether people continue to point out comments that i have made that anger them is moot.

Let's just all stop arguing and be excited for expansion. As soon as I hear officially I'll post it We were so lucky to have 3 such incredible organizations come to campus and want to colonize at Elon. All three would bring different things to campus, and I think it will be great for our Panhellenic to have more chapters on campus
