Since there are so mant Good Times fans out there could you please help me with this question: Florida came back for Thelma's wedding, but why didn't she go back to her new husband Carl after it was over? I know she stayed a while to help Keith recover, but you never hear Carl mentioned again.

Ok, my favorite episode was the one when Florida and Wilona were arguing because Penny had questions about the birds and the bees and Wilona didn't want to talk to her about it, and Florida felt like Penny was old enough to know. Florida told Wilona:
"Old woman living in a shoe...got ONE child and don't know what to do!"
I thought that had to be the biggest put down ever!

They played this one this morning!

I think Carl eventually passed away. She and Carl had left to go to Arizona where the "air" supposedly was better for him. You remember that he had Cancer.

What memories...I too, am a HUGE Good Times fan. It comes on here at 11pm.

Does anyone remember...
The talent show they had to raise money for the rent of one of the tenants (was it Myra??..I'm not sure) anyway, remember Michael sang "When You're Young & in Love" and remember The Supremes..Thelma, Wilona and "non-singing" Florida.

Remember when JJ got shot by MadDog and James went to court with pretzels..snapping them in half to represent MadDog's trigger finger.

Oh, yeah..remember Ned the Wino...remember when Florida won the "best apartment (or something like that) contest because the Evans cleaned up Ned and he was the husband of one of the judges. Ned had that ridiculous grin on his face until his wife told him they were going home.
One more thing..remember the "Black Jesus" episode.
Sooo many memories!!

MY FAVORITE AS WELL. However Savannah's famous line when she saw the picture was "Who is that?!", "That ain't hardly me!"... and when Savannah was about to leave and she called JJ a "jive turkey" and James called her "stank" TOO FUNNY!!!

Also, when they brought a new stero and it made the power go out everytime they played it...I am ROTFL now thinking about how Thelma and JJ was dancing. This was this episode when Florida's nephew, Cletis, was on the run from the FBI and he held Michael at gun point.

YOU don't 'member Carl? Carl had the fix-it shop where Micheal worked. Carl didn't believe in God. Flo didn't want Michael to work there b/c of Carl's beliefs.

Also, when he was about to propose to Flo, he took the kids out to the Burger Hut to ask them. Right before he does, he finds out he has Cancer. Then Nathan, Bookman, Buffalo Butt, tells Carl that he too had Cancer and had survived, yada yada yada...

Now, do you remember Carl?

But do you remember what she said when she first saw J.J.? " Ooh you can tell he's an artist. He looks like he's starving!" I crack up every time I hear that.

You guys named some good episodes!! I'll just add on:

1) When Florida was going to do that commerical for Vit-O-Brite and they found out it was alcohol because Michael got drunk.

"Drink Vit-O-Brite and sleep tight"

2) The Christmas party at the taxi company when Thelma, Penny, Florida, and Wilona was singing: "We got...STEAM HEAT! We got...STEAM HEAT!"

3) Thelma and Keith'a wedding

4) ALL episode with Penny

My FAVORITE was also the one with Wilona and Penny's real mom about to come to blows until Penny traps her with that tape recorder. Wilona straight slammed Penny's mom when she tried to attack Penny for that tape recorder.

First season Good Times DVD is now available

I rented the 1st season Good Times DVD. There are 13 eps in the DVD(s): Among which are:

- Premiere ep: James having trouble finding a job

- The Black Jesus ep.

- James' army buddy turned preacher recruiting James to do he "wheelchair boogie" (I ROTFLMHO when I saw this ep).

- The best apartment contest/Ned the Wino ep (Ned looked even goofier clean and sober than he did as a wino)

- James gets denied for a job b/c he's too old.

- The Vita Brite ep: the dude who brought the Vita Brite over to the Evans' was asked if he used Vita Brite. His reply: DAYUN NIGHT (day and night). I thought he said "DAYUM RIGHT" at first. James' reply: Da[r]n, I hate to see what he looked like before he used it *LOL*

- James with high blood pressure (the short temper chair demolishing ep).

- JJ passes to the 12th grade even though he didn't deserve it.

- The ep with the white guy from the housing authority coming over for dinner (We're having fat greens and turnip backs).

- Thelma is the subject of a sex dissertation written by Philip Michael Thomas

- Michael gets suspended from school for disrespecting a teacher

- JJ paints a portait of a girl he likes but doesn't realize she doesn't like him back

To name a few....

BTW....

Does anyone remember the ep where there was a rummage sale and Florida and Willona found a bra with three cups?

Question: Why didn't they just give that away to the hooker in the movie "Total Recall"?

Just curious...

I Got VD ... and You the One Who Give It to Me!

When JJ's girlfriend points the finger at him when she contracts VD ... back then the different diseases weren't named specifically. Among the crowd at the clinic to be tested is a young Jay Leno. "Oooh-oo-ooh!"

TTT - Second season DVD now available

OK, folx - the 2nd season DVD is available and I am renting it to get reacquainted w/the Evans family.

Guess what, as I type, LAUNCH.com (Internet radio) is playing the Four Tops song Bernadette - and the lovely BernNadette Stanis (Thelma Evans) is coming to mind as I listen. OMG, she was HOT back in the day. Then again, she's 50 years old and still looking good and young. But I digress.

This DVD features 24(?) eps from the 2nd season. A listing of the eps will be forthcoming. My favorite ep is on there. It is the one where JJ was invited to escort a girl (Clarissa) for the debutante ball but her parents don't approve of his ghetto family environment. The feud b/t James and Clarissa's parents was HEE-LARIOUS! Notable lines:

JJ (to Clarissa's parents): Can I get you a glass of Kool-Aid?
James: Junior, you don't serve Kool-Aid to Mr. and Mrs. Oreo.

Clarissa Father (looking around the Evans' apartment): Let's hurry up and get out of here.
James: Yeah, haven't you heard, there's ni**as in here.

Anyway, I was up till 1 in the morning watching those DVDs and I still am not done yet.

ETA: two of Good Times episode scriptwriters were the now co-kings of late night, Jay Leno and David Letterman.
